  • I think it could be a colnago Crystal
    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2864/9009271869_88bd6668fe.jpg
They were from about 96-97 I think Columbus Crystal tubing made for colnago ,
    But again only thoughts

  • I have an Elegant that has the following similarities,
    Same BB Shell
    Same Head tube Lugs
    Same Seat tube lug
    Same Oval Downtube
Looks like the same rear dropouts

Mine doesn't have the oval top tube though nor the external cable guides so I'm inclined to agree with @MRI

  • On another note my pal has just now secured the 3 aforementioned beauties. Paid and awaiting their arrival.
Not sure what he has planned for them yet but hoping he gifts me the Nuovo Mexico this Christmas.
    He sent me this picture

  • Oh my god !! You can see all sorts of beauties in there

  • shangri la! fingers crossed re gifting, got offered a nuovo framset on here, 650 pounds seemed a little steep

  • thanks, good work mate!

  • I'd like another nuovo , miss mine
But I'd really like a titanium colnago

  • i got offered an oval master , but vendor changed his mind
the friend is selling the crystal, but my hands are full

  • All quiet on the thread for 3 days so here's a post to keep it alive

As well as negotiating on a bike for me my pal is trying also to secure a deal on this from the basement collection in Italy.

Name on the frame is Alexander gontchenkov, a Ukrainian who raced track and road. He won uci amateur world championship team pursuit in 1990.

  • I've got a Master in the same colour scheme. Not using it, so let me know if your friend would be interested. Seems to be connected to Lampre in the 1993 season. Only other frames in the scheme I've found have been used by Maurizio Fondriest.

  • That master paint looks familiar

  • Wow nice find !
    Bi Titan lo pro
Like to see more pics of that

  • It sure is a beauty. No doubt he will send me some more pictures and I'll post them up. I thought it was a bi titanium too but apparently it's a carbitubo pursuit. On close inspection they do look like Alan lugs and dropouts.

Your master sure looks like a doppelgänger for the one in the picture. It is a beautiful looking bike. I seem to remember you had a seat post 'crisis', well more a dilemma a while back.

  • Yes they do look like the Alan lugs & dropouts on 2nd look
    Still a rare beauty
I stuck with the record Ti post in the end , still got the panto one I will probably move on at some point

  • still got the panto one I will probably move on at some point

Or better still keep it and build another bike around it

  • agreed, nice carbitubo pursuit, frame built by alan i think, looks like your mate rang the bell with that horde!

  • Ding dong ....... Oh yes indeed.

He's negotiating on these for me at the moment. The guy wants to do them both as a package which will stretch funds a bit too much to say the least.
I'm leaning toward the b-stay more as a keeper if I have to take them both purely because I prefer the colour scheme (although the lampre colours are lovely too).
We will see what the future holds.

Please can you assist dating this Colnago Master pista frame for me?

I would like to build up the frame with the correct year/era groupset.

The frame is numbered 354 with Colnago fork dropouts.

Gilco tubing with sort of flattened chain stays. Seat stays taper to seat lug with embossed Colnago branding.

C with clover embossed flat crown fork

ITA threaded BB with clover cut out and 27cm seatpin

Ernst's signature and large M on the down and seat tube. Master 10 times world champion decal on top tube and chain stays.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Sorry if you saw this on another thread.
