Hilarious. Louis starts a list. Never thought I'd see it.
And neglects the other names already put down.

The two rules which would be tried out are, :
- An amendment to the hooking rule, you are still allowed to hook but within certain limits.
- Icing (ala ice hockey style but with some changes)
Details to follow.

Ha!
These are not my ideas, the amendment to the hooking rule was first talked about by Ryan and the icing rule has been discussed for yonks but no one got around to testing it out, but hey, this is the season to be merry rite? So hopefully peeps don't take the games too seriously and in any case why not test them out? :D

What are the proposed hooking limits?

Still awaiting on Ryan to respond and will be disclosed soon, nothing too drastic but in jest it's to encourage a more flowing game.

What's the thinking behind the icing rule? What are you trying to stop/promote with it?
How will you implement it?
What's the penalty for it (considering we don't have face-offs in polo)
Just curious, not saying it shouldn't happen.

jajaj yeah good question

I really don't see the point of this rule, especially as it's located at downs, which is a tiny court.
However, you could give a turnover* and not allow the penalised team to make a line change, which would be similar to ice hockey.
*Or a faceoff, i've seen it before at the East Van bench, was fun.

Icing? at Downs?
I'm pro face-off though, jousts are not worth winning and too dangerous IMO. Ban jousts.

when the ref throw the puck to start the game in the middle of the rink

Erm, I'm a little bit pissed off that this is scheduled on a throw in day! Like seriously, if you wanna play your fucking tournaments do it on a non-throw in day, yeah? Why do I have to work my schedule around you and your tournaments? I most likely won't turn up anyway, but just thought I'd mention it.

I am still waiting for further details on the new rules (that combined with me prepping up for the new job). The concerns expressed for the icing rule at Downs is well received but read further.
Is there any objection for paying a small sum in order that we book lights to allow get more games? I would expect it to be dark by 4 come December hence 11-4 isn't that much of a gap to get much games going.
If peeps are not inclined to pay then maybe Mitch? Perfect court to test the icing rule (I have no vested interest in testing this rule out, just highlighting as one of the advantage of playing at Mitch if peeps don't want to pay for lights at Downs, there's also the former George Orwell just down the road).

Icing won't work in polo.
People like taking long shots. No one is that great at taking long shots.
This would be on Sunday 22 December at Hackney Downs. There might be some changes to certain rules which would be disclosed soon. Nothing drastic. Seems like a good tourney to test it out as it's meant to be fun but still competitive.
