  • Jupiter will be just six days past opposition, shining brightly down onto the upper surface of the cloud that will cloak the south east.

How appropriate I only made it onto the temps list... great idea, btw.

In that case he'll probably come down and try and seduce you.

Might not be a good time for the ride, unless Juno is somewhere to be seen as she keeps him in check.

  • Stars need to align...

Next person to make an astrological comment doesn't get to come on the ride.

  • Jupiter will be just six days past opposition.

That's good timing, I was going to check what exactly was about that night!

    Wish I'd spotted this sooner.
It sounds...intergalactic planetary, planetary intergalactic :)

  • ^ not really an astrological comment - more a lyrical expression of excitement :/

  • ^^That's astronomical Miss Mouse
    This is astrological
'Thanking my lucky stars I got on the list'

  • ok guys, I got confirmation from the observatory that we're good to go for the 11th of January. Here are few important points I'll add to the first post as well;

The observatory has polished wooden floors and therefore NO CLEATS/BITS POKING OUT on your shoes, so bring a pair of flip flops or be prepared for walking around in your socks.
Secondly 20 is the maximum so if you can't make it please remove yourself from the list so someone else can take your place.
Thirdly the cost is more than I estimated, it is likely to be £5 per head, I'll try to negotiate it down.

  • Re cleats: are fully recessed SPDs ok?

  • It's a short distance, just put some light trainers in your bag.

These facilities cost a bomb... care for them!

  • I am starting to feel teh guilt that perhaps someone with more knowledge and an enduring interest in the stars might appreciate this more... :/

  • Re cleats: are fully recessed SPDs ok?

Yeah, I wear my shimano SPDs around all the time but essentially, if you're likely to damage a nice wooden floor, please bring a swap...

  • I am starting to feel teh guilt that perhaps someone with more knowledge and an enduring interest in the stars might appreciate this more... :/

Well if you drop out you'll let me in, and I like explosions in the sky.

  • I also really like explosions in the sky....

You're not talking about the band, are you...?

  • You could always check your horoscope to see if you're really destined to go on this ride.

  • The nuclear kind.

suddenly feeling much pressure from the 'waiting' list who don't seem happy to wait...
    haha

  • Hah, I'm fine... being next on the list it's just a waiting game. There is always rider attrition, and I'll be there.

SCREW 'EM! Something something witty pun about Time/space doesn't wait for a anyone. MY SPOT! I WANT TO SEE TELESCOPE AND SKIES AND STUFF!

  • I can bring some rubber SPD-SL covers if anyone wants to borrow them?

  • I'll probably be rocking some fluffy blue slippers.
