Really fun game tonight. Thank you so so much to Rik n Nik n Ben for reffing in the deluge, and thank you Westway for winning in a way that made it feel like we didn't lose.

In for tonight!! Can goal ref.
Winter has come vs. Westway
This was a really fun game to watch! The first chukker saw WHC play a good passing game with some great shots from all players. Westway started a little slow to warm up but by the second chukker they started to pull it out, pressing hard 3 up making some excellent passes and great shot especially from viktor. In the final chukker WHC pulled it back a bit thanks to a fantastic goal from fuschia and some wicked shots from maddie and Paul from their own half which served to rattle Westway and push them into a bit more of a defensive role and gave WHC a chance to get more offensive.
Westway played brilliantly and we were really impressed with their fast passing plays and great defence. WHC, although losing the game, fought hard and I am looking forward to seeing more from these guys over the season.
Joint MVP this time. Maddie and Vit.

I have to say it's quite a lot to play two league games in a row, especially when bruised after playing Hemlock )) but all good now!
Big thanks to Emmet, Adam, Ruppert and Zoe for reffing the West Way v Hemlock games. It was amazing playing at that court, so clean but physical: that possible?
The following day quite different with lots of bubble bubbles in Newt, really enjoy playing with Winter Has come. You guys are awesome! Again please see the effort it goes behind supporting these games thanks for reffing to Ben, Nik and Rick!
West Way 12 - 4 Winter has come
Goals:
Phil: 2
Vit: 2
Victor: 8
Fuschia: 1
Paul: 3
This game started off really cagey with each team playing calm, composed polo and not willing to open themselves up or take risks early on. After a while, goals were traded and Maddie and Paul had some good combinations in midfield for WHC while Viktor and Phil both looked dangerous for WW. Although WW had more chances, WHC were playing some good defence, goalkeeping well and playing very effectively on the break with the score ending 3-2 to Westway at the end of an even 1st chukker.
The second half was very different with Westway stepping their game up, playing 3 out and pressing WHC high up in their own half. While Phil and Vit dominated the midfield, Viktor was the outlet, scoring all goals in a 5-0 drubbing that WHC had no answer to. WW had some great combinations leading to goals that showed the promise they have as a team and I think they will continue to improve considerably as a team and cause some upsets in the coming tournament season.
There was one moment that was very impressive in the 2nd chukker where, with Vit and Viktor having foot-downed, Phil backed himself and took the risk of pressing WHC right up next to their own goal, stopping them getting a pass off and won the ball back against the whole team when the situation would normally have resulted in a WHC goal.
The 3rd chukker was much tighter and more like the 1st with WHC putting pressure on WW's pressing game by taking long shots at their empty net and releasing the pressure well. This allowed them to compete again in the midfield, Maddie especially playing out of her skin and begin to play on the break with great keeping continuing to deny WW. Fuschia scored the goal of the game as a sweet consolation from her own half to make it 3-2 to WW in the 3rd chukker in the pissing rain as the heavens opened and everyone retreated to the Libertine for a drink. Fun game to watch
MVP: Phil for his allround support play
