Kerning is not exactly how I wanted on my other… the space between the last and first words is noticeably wider

I think you meant text justification, not kerning:) though kerning as well could be improved

It would be also nice if text was set off the edge a bit to be in the middle of engraveable area. Tester, do you think that could be tweaked for the next batch order?

It could, I pushed it to the edge to get the straightest line with the largest text. If requirements start getting too complex, it pushes up the price and increases the number of possible ways for it to go wrong, which is another reason to use one template for all of them.

Just so you know how the economics work, for a batch of 60 the cost of making, engraving, anodising, packing and shipping one cap is £10.26, with no allowance for my time carrying the stuff from place to place or fixing errors. Out of 120 made in the last batch, 11 blanks were lost to a mix of engraving errors, anodising errors and production of samples. It's not quite as tight as when I did the forum group buy of Hirame Yoko pump heads and made exactly 1p on total transactions of over £500, but it's close :-)

OK, we can go ahead with the current list, so if everybody pays by 6th January I'll get started.

Schedule (approximate).

Hopefully 2nd January: Pick up samples from engraver - these are a couple I'm having done with different (Type 3 & 4) finishes, which will be options.
Type 1: Engraved, raw finish
Type 2: Engraved then anodised black, as shown in the pix people have been posting
Type 3: Anodised black, then engraved
Type 4: Anodised black, then laser etched

6th January: If necessary, go to machinist to get more blanks

20th January: Take raw blanks to engraver. This will be the cut off date for anybody to get on this batch

27th January: Take engraved blanks to anodiser, ship Type 1 orders

31st January: Ship Type 2 orders, return anodised blanks to engraver

7th February: Ship type 3 & 4 orders

Any of these dates could slip depending on the workload at the various subcontractors, and if you order mixed types your shipping date will be the latest one for the types ordered.

Broadly right, except that you can have your LFGSS one for £12 as soon as you send the money, as I made a couple of spares in the last batch

I snook the cap into a little stocking of chocolates for my girlfriend, she pulled a big piece out and i had to inform her to look again.
