  • Fantastic ride by Martyn Irvine there, really gutsy.

  • Kenny didn't even make it through this morning qualification round for the match sprint this evening...

  • Fantastic ride by Martyn Irvine there, really gutsy.

Really impressive ride. Lots of mini breaks before that but he managed to make his stick. And stil needed a big share of the points from aming the three of them

I think he was on the wrong side of the split when half the field got half a lap on the rest but the Ukrainian broke that group up with a solo attack.

  • wow! just watched GB women's team pursuit smash 4 seconds of the WR

  • Gutted that I didn't think to ask on LFGSS about lifts. Got offered VIP in-track tickets and had to say no because I couldn't get down there cheaply from London. Lesson learned.

  • I would've said yes, if someone offered me one.

  • I would've too, but I couldn't get a train there-and-back in a day because it finished late. Then I looked at a cheap hotel room and all of a sudden it was going to cost me a couple of hundred quid to get there and back, which I couldn't do this month.

  • really? 4hrs journey on train, leave London at 8am, then it was all over by 5:30, I think - would've been home by now.

  • This event finished quite late. Too late for the last train. Probably could've made it work, Captain Hindsight.

    ;)

  • Andreas Müller's epic attack to win the mens scratch race yesterday was incredible - he almost gained a lap with 6 laps to go, but just couldn't get back on. The peloton ramped up the pace to reel him in - he was out there on his own and just about hung in to win by inches. Seeing the pain on his face for the last 2 laps from a meter away was pretty humbling.

  • So you did make it to Manchester then?

  • yep - didn't see you? Did you pick up the ticket?

  • Forstermann vs Phillip was pretty thrilling. I think that's the first time I've really seen him really bully someone - looked in awesome form.

  • Zeez, Dimi and Dan. That's it. Can you guys PM me your emails and I'll forward on the itinerary in the morning?

yep - didn't see you? Did you pick up the ticket?

didn't hear anything back about tickets, so didn't bother travelling, which would've been pointless.

  • Eh? I'm pretty sure Simon tried to get hold of you a few times - that's a real shame dude, your name was down. I thought you were already there anyway.

  • Forstermann vs Phillip was pretty thrilling. I think that's the first time I've really seen him really bully someone - looked in awesome form.

i hope that phillip will have a future, great to watch. but to see förstemann winning a sprint competition was even greater. he's training hard and it's good to see that it works now after the last years. great 2 final runs.

  • Phillip is pretty raw still, but he's going to be BIG.

It's a shame that Forstermann can never seem to peak at the right time in an Olympic year.

  • it always looks like förstemann can't get the power of his legs to the wood.
however he's holding quite a lot of velodrome records over flying 200m

  • Yeah, in a straight line he's as fast as anyone - but every time I've seen him race (except yesterday) he's looked like either doesn't judge the timing of his effort quite right, or that he isn't as switched on tactically as the top top top guys like Kenny and Baugé.
Would be interested to hear what someone like RPM had to say on the matter. I'm just an enthusiastic observer/amateur.

  • didn't hear anything back about tickets, so didn't bother travelling, which would've been pointless.

Dimi i'm really sorry, your name was on the door for the tickets and I tried to PM you from my phone, for some reason I thought that you were already up there.

  • Sorry a little late, thanks so much Simonm for the tix and lovely to meet you.

My first time watching track racing at Manchester, amazing being so close to the action.

Highlights for me were Trott getting a lap in the scratch. Muller destroying himself to win the scratch 6 laps (?) out. Archibald attacking on the points race and trying an energy sapping bridge unsuccessfully for so long... (so so much more to come, v exciting!) and Phillip and Forstermann in the Sprint.
