+1 and a beer.
After watching "The Armstrong Lie", this felt like a cheap copy. Waste of time imho.

We are obliged to say nothing, no?Yeah, it would be cool to maybe withhold your ire for now, word of mouth is pretty much the killer ingredient for a good (or bad) opening.

I'm no writer or director but I can imagine how this could have been a pretty good film - scorcese style and pace, narrated by O'Dowd, scenes led by Foster, split personality stuff, quirky aspects of the Armstrong lie exposed - as opposed to the mundane and obvious stuff about how he made a lot of money, doped in the process, and got called out by some angry journalist. That was really just the tip of the iceberg. Seven Deadly Sins wasn't even a particularly good book and didn't tell us anything to get excited about.
The Secret Race would have made a far better basis for the film ... the workings of the omerta were far more interesting and eye opening than that annoying man David Walsh bleating on about something others had already raised before him and then taking all the credit.
If they do make The Secret Race version it could have potential, but there was so much to the story over decades that you could only really fit all the interesting bits in a book.

PS how finished was the version shown last night - was it a rough test edit with a lot of room for improvement?

I heard it's a bit meh... Trys to cover too much, is unrealistic in places, and the lead is unconvincing as LA. That might be wrong of course , but I can't summon any more interest in the whole story; it's been really done to death over that last 2 years.
Dibs! I can wear a gorilla mask, if that would help?
