Apologies if people have already read about this, but there was somebody on here a while back in the same situation as this this, and they recommended getting the Transport Police involved. Basically, the regular 5-O weren't interested when it was explained to them that he'd tracked down his stolen bike and how he intended on getting it back. So he arranged to meet his 'seller' at a tube station, tipped off the staff as to what was going on, and they helped him mount his 'sting'.
Good luck.

Good luck on getting the bike back, i'm following the ebay post. Thought i'd bid, but I don't think driving up the price will do any good, only to make him feel rich before being brought back down with a thud.
I'd love to see 50 odd riders turn up with you, dish out some rough justice.

Tell the police but just go about getting it back yourself. I had a similar thing happen-both my bikes nicked on a Saturday from my house then spotted one of them on eBay via bikeshd on the Wednesday. Went in and gave the police a statement. 1 month later they've done sweet FA. Thankfully I had decent insurance but I'd rather have my bikes back. Good luck with yours!

I'd have a plan well worked out before meeting as he'll probably be expecting a sting or that the original owner could turn up.

I always thought that something like this is possible, but never believed it would actually happen!
You may want to delete or hide this post for now. Not sure how you advertised the Bianchi in the first place, but if you used this site, the guy may be monitoring it for his next victims.
Avoid paying him through Paypal, as he may take the money and never turn up. Insist on paying cash and in person, hoping that he doesn't get weary. I wonder if he is even going to ship the bikes to the other two buyers? Paypal has his info. The critical point is to get your bike back to prove that he stole it. Definitively report the situation and serial to the police. It is your proof for anything that may happen. But as mentioned above, unfortunately, it is up to you to retrieve it. Until the law takes bike theft seriously, these punks will operate unabated.
Good luck man!

he left an economics book in the bag with me and his feedback has negative for some economics books in his profile. claimed he was in a graduate job scheme with a bank. Not for long!
After i won and paid the bid,the seller decided not to sell this book !
ECONOMICS TEXTBOOK LYPSEY & CHRYSTAL (#280742488108)Did you get this book? Did he really try to sell it and then decided to use it to fill up the fake school bag instead? That's worth start to work on a script for a twisted movie

Update.
The police are are still investigating the case. I managed to discover the identity of the person selling the bike on ebay. This was through buying the bike from my friends account and then requesting the sellers details when the bidding was complete. Teccy friend! having got the name and phone number of the original seller I found his linked in with all his work address and previous details. But due to lack of response from ebay and paypal the police have been unable to obtain an address. The guy was not the original man who stole the bike but a book that was marked as sold on his ebay was in the bag the original thief left with me. You'd think this would be a straightforward enough case with this link but the police have been hopeless. I called the guy up and he got really freaked out and said he'd return the bike only a call a few hours later saying he had no knowledge of a bike at all and his ebay must have been hacked into.

moral of the story - don't put your trust in anyone no matter how legit they appear!
the numbers we found from 2 subsequent ebay accounts as well had links to around 15 bikes on ads from gumtree so it was essentially an organised gang. The seller was an economics student as well. Looks like a respectable chap eh? -

Bit more than respectable - if he really did attend LSE he's a fucking genius
(Or he's just foreign & minted)
What's the latest with the bike itself? Are u getting it back?
I hope you catch the cunt. Take one of his fingers as a trophy.
Good luck
