  • Rear hub: Ambrosio. Nice, and quiet. Front hub: Shimano dynamo.

    You know it makes sense.

  • subbed. looks promising.

  • Beautiful colour.

  • That is pretty much my ideal frame.

  • Tidy!

Skully this is not far from the current thinking. If I get new wheels thinking Ambrosio to Open Pro or the forum favourite at the moment, Archetypes. Or I may just call Harry Rowland and have him tell me what I want.

  • I'd go for a Shutter Precision dynamo over the Shimano- Exposure rebadge them for sale in the UK.

You can get them for £65 delivered from Taiwan.

  • Not convinced I need a dynamo at this point.

  • Adds 200 grams, removes the need for batteries forever.

I've got one for the Oak, albeit for the trailer.

  • You can get them for £65 delivered from Taiwan.

Do you have a link by any chance?

  • Sweeeet frame, T! This gonna be good.

  • Just to chuck my 2p in on the hubs...

.... I would match them to the group (assuming you go 105 or Ultegra*).

    *ideally dark grey 6800

  • If I go new Ultegra it will be grey 6800. The Ultegra vs 105 premium seems to be worth paying, whereas Force is more again, and I am struggling to justify that. So currently leaning toward 6800. Wondering if prices will drop any further, they seem to be stabilizing around their current level.

    Audax bike with dynamo: win

    This sounds excellent!

  • On the topic of wheels, 'phone call to harry Rowland is definitely the way to go. In other news, I look forward to following this down Jamaica Road IN THE RAIN.

    Subbed.

  • Well, if Skully and Dammit are right, at least the dynamo will ensure the route is well lit.

  • Do you have a link by any chance?

    This seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/idc1947/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

We completed the transaction outside eBay after having a chat about drillings, total cost was just under £75 (I remembered that wrong).

  • Saw that but unsure how I feel about radial lace on the front. Also if I go for 6800 then pretty sure they won't take 11 speed. If I did Force then could work. Might be a good interim solution until I can afford those Royce hubs way up there ^^^^^^^^^^^^

  • So while I contemplate wheels and groupset, the other things I have include a brown Brooks saddle, thanks to Telescope 1608. I may end up putting this on the track bike, and using the black B17 from there on the Roberts. In fact this is rather likely since black and blue make a good combination (just ask Iggy Pop).

  • I also have a Use Ti seatpost, that came with the frame. It should be plenty long to compensate for the compact geometry. I plan to remove the Use branding but haven't yet looked up the best way, if you know please let me know and save me the googling. One of these

  • Think I remember reading somewhere that acetone was good for that...

  • Called Harry Rowland to discuss wheels, and his advice was in line with what I had been thinking, Amrosio hubs laced to Open Pros, with lots of Sapim Race spokes since I'm near qualifying for membership in clydesdale cc. That should build up into something sturdy. I will probably go that route unless I can find £200ish savings elsewhere for those Royce hubs. Any reason to think otherwise?

  • I'd advised something like a Mavic A319 instead, wide, strong and suitable with 25/28c* tyres for the worst of the British road.

Adds 200 grams, removes the need for batteries forever.

    This.

Once you have it, you'll never need to worry about light anymore, it's very liberating.

*lower PSI than usual, decent profile shape etc.)
