Very sad
PopVerse 1
My old bicycle is broken
A half minute sound
The water is rising, trust is hard and I am falling
I wipe the dirt from my face, like a little boy on a bicycle
Pre-Chorus
She was never on her bicycle
She got it all from a store with no open door
Chorus
Bicycle bell is ringing
Bicycle bell is ringing
Or you can make the same mistakes that you fear
You will hit me just like a bicycle wheel
Verse 2
I could trade it for a bicycle
Perhaps a bed for one or two
You know it could be double, if I had it
He robbed a home and stole a bicycle
Pre-Chorus
While she laughs at my jokes and lies
I race my bicycle up and down the street
Chorus
Bicycle bell is ringing
Bicycle bell is ringing
Or you can make the same mistakes that you fear
You will hit me just like a bicycle wheel
Bridge
Warm, but not sweet
Back seat on your bicycle
Chorus
Bicycle bell is ringing
Bicycle bell is ringing
Or you can make the same mistakes that you fear
You will hit me just like a bicycle wheel -

I saw Kate Darling give a speech on robot ethics a few years ago and it was excellent: thought provoking and amusing. She's got a book out soon, and was interviewed by The Guardian ahead of publication.

"The New Breed: How to Think About Robots by Kate Darling is published by Penguin (£20).
To order a copy go to guardianbookshop.com."Interesting. But at the rate I'm reading, Skynet will have taken over before I get to it.

Robot police dogs in New York.

OK so if this is real no one is learning from the robot films with the bad bad endings here.

It's remote controlled, no AI in there.

Of course there is, it's what enables it to walk over different terrain and rebalance.

Boston need to program in more cuteness it seems

Their main customer is the US military so I don't think cuteness is high on the list of requirements.

My LinkedIn feed is awash with images made with Midjourney in the last week. As a visualizer it's quite exciting and scary in equal measure. I'm guessing a lot of concept artists are quaking in their boots right now.
Anyone here using it and have an invite to the beta? My applications haven't had a response yet.

I found this online/cut down version of DALL-E, which allows you to play around: https://huggingface.co/spaces/dalle-mini/dalle-mini
...it's often very slow though, or just stops working and says "too much traffic".
I think we're going to see a lot of activity in the synthetic data space
-
• #172
yes, I'd heard of that one, will have to look at what it's producing. An acquaintance on FB just quoted this from a paper they published
"Though DALL-E 2 is for exclusively non commercial purposes today, it may eventually have significant economic implications. The model may increase the efficiency of performing some tasks like photo editing or production of stock photography which could displace jobs of designers, photographers, models, editors, and artists. At the same time it may make possible new forms of artistic production, by performing some tasks quickly and cheaply."

Sentient or not, that AI is breathtaking. The singularity is closer than we realised.
Lemoine has also been causing a stir, accusing Google of religious discrimination

I'm scared
Seeking inspiration for something to draw which it couldn't possibly misconstrue, I considered what I'm currently working on...
A 3D model of a vintage fire extinguisher with a pair of wheels at the bottom.
