  • Turning this into a street legal London bike. Bought the frame with Campag headset and BB in the summer and now I'm getting it sorted out.

So first stop - drilled forks

Bought these off FrankTheTank on here

The clearance, brake drop and rake were all wrong but the crown was pretty good period match.

So I sent them to Bob Jacksons to shorten the blades at the ends, fill a small dent, drill out the rear for recessed brake and put on a new longer steerer. They did a great job and here are the results.

Then off to London Chroming for a bath.

Then some of that model paint for the pantos. Doesn't really show in the picture as good as it actually looks

That's where I'm at now. Headset this week so will update with new pics when I get that sorted

  • Oof, great, lovely job on the forks. Looking forward to what will happen.

  • This thread is relevant to my interests.

  • dedication. chroming cost a bomb didnt it? anyway, what you reckon it cost totally?!

  • Shoulda just bought a colnago road fork :(

  • It is a road fork I thought? hence the mods to bring it back to similar geo.

  • Was an old road fork. Took half an inch off the ends, the brake drop was mental long before.

There are plenty of Colnago road forks out there, but after months of looking this was the only "flat" crown I could find.

The forks, Bob Jacksons work and the chroming cost about £220. Would have been £47 cheaper had I not cut the steerer too short. Schoolboy error.

London Chroming cost £65ish. I can't remember the exact amount.

  • Oh that's god, completely got the wrong end of the stick in my completely sleep deprived state!

  • Still got the track forks. They real nice. About 1mm clearance with 23 tyres.

  • subbed, can't wait to see the final build if the work on the forks is anything to go by!

  • I don't want anyone to get their hopes up of a classic build. I've got a De Rosa 1973 Pista that I'll be restoring to it's former glory, with period correct parts in a few months.

This one however will get shiny modern parts.

  • This is the De Rosa. I bought it about a year ago. No idea why it has been sprayed and decalled so wrong.

Going to chrome the fork crown and ends and the track ends on the frame then still undecided on whether to go molteni orange or benotto champagne gold.

Would it not have been cheaper to get a fork made instead?

  • Would it not have been cheaper to get a fork made instead?

    By Colnago?

  • Dear god. This is going to get good... is already good. Please don't split Frame and forks though. Look forward to the De Rosa thread...

  • Got to be Orange for the De Rosa

  • Headset has arrived today. I'm too tired to install tonight (or take proper pictures) will put pictures up when it's done. Chris King 2 nut.

Got the brake, Paul Racer Medium. Will put it all together with the headset and cable hanger.

Im going to get a Paul E-Lever too and If the whole brake system looks gash I might switch it out for a SRAM red aero one instead.

  • Owning this bike and riding it in the streets would be like having a girlfriend with big Tits

.... better get used to your friends never looking you in the eye when they're talking to you when she's around

pretty anxious to see the results of the build

    computer daps

  • Aaaaaand ruined.

Why Paul? why not some classic Campagnolo single pivot brake?

  • Aaaaaand ruined.

Why Paul? why not some classic Campagnolo single pivot brake?

It's not ruined yet. I haven't put the Bobbins bikes wicker basket on it yet.

I don't want this one to be a classic build. I'll do that for the De Rosa.

  • ^^^Nobber.

  • Got my Sugino 75 Cranks and Zen chainring back from the Chromers today.

Just waiting for the chainring bolts to arrive from Japan to finish it off

  • Interested to see how this turns out, could go either way, will be an epic example whichever way it goes...

  • yeah, its gonna be a thin line between anti and hhsb...

  • Defo treading a line... lets see...
