  • Following on from reading discussions in the "owning your own home" thread, and my sneaking suspicions that people earn more in London than they let on, I thought I'd take this highly unscientific poll to see how "broke" people on LFGSS actually are. I've tried to create relevant brackets, I got the figures from various quick googling, apologies if they're incorrect, and pls dont whine if you dont like them, it's just a bit of curiousity.

Only full-time workers, not students, or people living with their parents please, thanks

    Please be honest.

  • Did Velocio not do this once?

  • I dug, couldnt find. Apologies if repost.

  • I wasn't bothered about any repost nonsense, so no apology needed, just thought it would be interesting to compare what he did with now.

  • minimum wagers and 150k'ers pretty much neck and neck so far, surprising!

  • That's a big jump from 75k to 150k.

  • Pocket change mate

  • And to avoid clicking and hiding: I'm on 32K, have a PhD (and a Masters). I work in academic health science / project management.

  • The poll asks how much do you Earn.. and then the bands are all in terms of PAYE income tax bands.

Incase you are not aware I am very rich and hold shares worth at least £10000 these earn me an income but its is taxed as a capital gain (actually its not because its in an isa wrapper)

Inshort you don't have to pay income tax on everything you earn in a year.

  • Probably framed in this way because the person writing this isn't "very rich" and doesn't make income other than a salary.

Why don't you amaze me and tell me how much you earn?

Perhaps I could guess at: nothing, because you've done nothing to "earn" the income you get.

  • I went for on track earnings? Is that what was wanted?

  • I have but think your missing the point.
Your survey also won't capture any earnings in terms of equity of those forum members who have invested in property. Which considering the active 'owning your own home' thread is many and considering its a london forum likely to be significant.

I make slightly more than the average but don't get any standard benefits like health or pension however I do get a shit load of holiday & a cycle scheme.
    Swings & Roundabouts.

In my last job for an Silicon valley startup about to IPO and I was paid mainly in share options.. so would have been even more confused about how to fill in your chart.

  • ^ It is a poll and not a troll.

  • I earned a lot more last year than I will get this year (I suspect, although it might still come together), so I've gone for what I expect to earn at a minimum.

  • Can I have another band please, below the first one. I am a bicycle mechanic.

  • could be worse.. the silicon valley company after a succesfull listing fired me a week before the vesting date of the options. (who doesn't love americans)

  • I have an odd feeling this poll is going to make me feel really poor.

  • onefiddy

  • Urrr. Crass vulgar thread. Who cares. Who has the nicest bike?

  • ^rich guy

  • This poll is flawn.

  • I earn less under the Lib Dem/Tory party.

1% pay increase per year is a pay cut.

Cunt, cunt, cunty, cunt smug bastards.

And they think giving £12 billion to the bankers to 'help' the affordability of housing works?
