Haha tubular bells... :)
So from now on, what tubing is it?
"dunno give it a good squeeze..."
euph?
;)PS: Looks like yours has a formed downtube, which suggests 853, or perhaps 631, 531 models don't seem to have that

My 853 has the braze ons for inline adjusters on the headtube (though different to yours), the same little cable routers on the top tube and the same chunky stays...

Also, nice find for that price!

Thanks for the info. Next step will be silver soldering the failed joint.
I'll also need to swap out the forks too as they look to be 27" not 700c. -

My Donohue 853 will be up for sale this evening, just letting you guys know first.

Looking fine. Miss u.
Pedals are pretty chunky though! Also, is the TT protector needed? Looks like the stem and bars would clear it.
-
• #291
bottom of the stem doesn't clear it... pedals are chunky but funnily enough lighter than the old school atacs and provide good support. not a massive fan, but they were kicking about.
replaced the bearings in the lower headset cup and tightened up the nds crank. other than that haven't really touched it!

my first post after doing some google searching and stumbled on the topic.
columbus slx with dura ace 7402 groupset
now looks like this
wish I left it with Donohue stickers on . -
• #294
why the Motta decals?
-
• #296
Its the only bike I could find at the time which had the columbus slx frame with dura ace as most had campagnolo. I now regret it.
-
• #297
If I get time I will change it and sell it on so it is similar to the original
-
• #298
You can get Donohue decals on EBay.
-
• #299
Cheers Tom but I'm hoping I can get them from Paul as his business is in making graphics and he might have some in his stores.

Wow. Killed it.
Like actually killed.
Not in a great way.
I like it...
I've culled my collection sufficient that I only have one steel left in the shed which is tange prestige so the tubular-bells method will have poor calibration, particularly since I've never been near a 631 frame in my life....
I'd used a similarly scientific, but slightly more pedestrian technique in which I squidged the downtube between thumb and forefinger, felt it deflect quite a bit and then thought "shit, that's thin.... must be 853!"
Another quick check might be to remove the BB and stick it on the scales and see whether the internet can tell me how much it should weigh...
