hows the bike parking ?
should i bring beater or a nice one ? -
• #31
^ I was thinking this exactly. Website says its monitored and cctv'd but to bring a lock. Which to be honest could mean anything!

there are about 40 official spots for bikes but once they are filled i am not 100% sure where else you could lock

in answer to my own question i whipped over to the velodrome and had a quick scout out
lots of bike bays not a lot of people there at the minute
security guards say we can also lock to the fence around the entrance level concourse / walkway
i think the bike bays will fill up very quickly once lunchtime comes around
no monitored security for bikes though like at excel or earls court -

Will be down tomorrow, looking forward to this already! Hopefully my man flu won't ruin the occasion! =/

I went yesterday and spent a good few hours looking at the bikes & bits and chatting to people on the stands.
Dammit's Time Machine is a highlight - and not just because of the protracted backstory - and talking with the guys who have come over from Portland was also really good. Didn't manage to get to talk to Superted - that would have been good.
Bit disappointed with the price of a beer at LMNH stall - the only option - but that is a minor gripe when there is so much lovely stuff on show.
Track cycling lessons were going on around the boards yesterday, I guess they will be again today.
I have never been to the Bristol version so can't compare but whilst the big open space of the velodrome made it initially feel much like other more generic trade shows, once you are in the infield it's nice and compact and has an intimate feeling that you don't get at some events.
I'll do a write up later in the week for those who can't make it.. -

... about 40 official spots
of forum people this morning. Good to see so many working there or wandering around
Enjoyed the show. Liked the Faggin bikes and had a good natter with Mr Quoc Pham about his shoes (http://www.lfgss.com/post4182826-26.html)
Mike Burrows explained his role in the evolution of the bike and moaned about the UCI for banning his monocoque design.
Enjoyed the Reynolds and Columbus steel stands and was tempted by the Downland cycles frame building course.

lots of love for this type of bike at the minuteother mentions for sparrow cycles, and the embossed steel patterning and lugs, also tsubasa for 3 unique frames nothing else looked like those today

Some lovely bikes but the part that I really liked was chatting with the different builders and makers and hearing the journey that led them to doing what they're doing...definitely get the feeling that bike building is going through a renaissance and apparently there's nothing quite like it in the rest of Europe

Great show all round...

great show. new venue was awesome, loads more space for each stand which was nice - bikes could be spaced out more. interesting to note that the ad for next years show in the programme says Bespoked Bristol again...

Nice, did you get any of the two titanium Mawis bikes?

I don't think so.

^^^^ I think that Donhou fade was my favourite bike. Was great to see the Time Machine, and the Tesla Talbot was fantastic in the flesh (and just my size too). Wasn't so impressed with the "Best in Show" and "Best Road Bike" winners, a bit wanky imo, but so much goodness on offer.
It's just great to be able to chat to everyone from Mike Burrows (was a good presentation) to the Islabikes engineers and the Brooks folks; even got a replacement decal off the Columbus guys.
Fun day out, even with the pricey beer (better than apparently £4.50 for bottled shite the last couple of years though). Booked myself in for the Stage 1 accreditation next Thursday too!
