Looks good!
What mudguards are they?

SKS Chromoplastic. I got the narrow ones with 28c Randos, which are really 25c. Looking to move to fatter tyres when these wear out but I think 32c would be too tight. So probably get the medium ones.

Cool nice one.

I had to switch out cantis out for mini-v's on my Cross Check when I stuck a porteur rack on it. The mount for the rack interfered with the straddle and when I moved the straddle up to clear the mount the brakes ended up being super spongy.
I'm not convinced by the goldfinger levers either, never really found them comfortable or they gave enough stopping power, some proper flat-bar canti levers might not look a bit bulkier but I'm pretty sure they'd be cheaper and work better.
Looks like a good build though, should be pretty much perfect to try polo out on too...

I was a bit worried about that happening but I found a few pictures that show that it shouldnt be an issue with the TCB rack.

yeah to be honest I dont really know anything about brake levers, I just chucked Goldfinger in there because I had heard of them, I'm open to any suggestions.

I was waiting for someone to say that :P

Shimano Compact HTIIs and a cheap 110bcd SS ring is another option, and what's going on my Pompino.

The ones you want are these Tektro fl750

They work with road calipers and cantis. They're fairly light. Comfortable to use and well priced.

And pretty slim looking, havent seen those before. Im putting em in the memory bank.

• #35
I was just looking at those actually. I was about to post them on here to see what people thought.

although my bars are 31.8mm
-
• #37
31.8mm is the clamp measurement not the diameter of the bar at the grip point.
They will go on any standard mtb bar. They won't go on road drops, or cinelli priest type bars which use a road diameter for the whole of the grip section.

Ah should be cool then. Nice one.

Can anyone ID these brake levers?

not tempted by drops and levers?
-
• #41
I am, buttttt i'm not planning on doing any big distances on this bike and I really like the wide MTB risers I have. The wider the better if I'm going to be having the front rack too.
That said, I do keep thinking about drops.

I havent decided on tyres yet, I just chucked some stuff on there for a rough idea of price. I'll have a look at paselas, cheers.
I was actually just looking through the pompino thread trying to work out what tyres everyone else was using.

I had some tour ride on a bike I bought and they were mega slow, slower than Randos, and felt squirmy... I'm running 32c paselas on the commuter/winter bike at 70-80psi, and they feel great, fast rolling and comfy. Look rad too.
Have you ordred frame yet? Not tempted to go disc?
-
• #48
they look really good on your Boardman, I'm not sure gumwalls will suit my build though.
I am looking for 32's though, I think Pomps have clearance for 35's but I want to leave room for mudguards.
I do like the look of Sammy Slicks but they only come in 35c as far as I can see.

I was tempted for a while yeah but I really want to ride this fixed mostly.
I havent ordered the frame yet, I'm waiting on another bike which I'm going to sell to fund this.

Ah yeah forgot you needed a flip flop, you could get ISO mount one side, fixed threads other, and swap out cog for freewheel when wanting it, although not as painless as flipping wheel over.
I thought I had replied, Paselas come in black wall as well. Def recommend, ride so well for a bigger tyre.
Although I can't imagine a SSCX type build that wouldn't suit tan walls.
Oh they're fugly alright, but I'm not sure that it really makes much difference overall, especially if your bike is more practical than aesthetically wonderful:
