Might be worth a quick experiment if we can't get sponsored netting. That stuff is pretty tough, and the ball is very light.
The other option would be doubling up the bottom meter. Above that it just needs to be catching scoops and deflections

Doubling up is a good shout.

I tried all of that at the LO, that stuff just doesn't work, one decent shot and it goes through.

The cricket netting or even golf netting should be better though, surely.

The netting used at Ride London was from http://www.allplas.co.uk/
"The original order was with them but they failed to get the ideal netting produced in time (although they had originally promised it would be ready). The final netting was their own substitution. If you speak to them and let them know the diameter of the ball - I think we went for a high impact golf netting with around 25mm holes."

what about leaving a 5-10cm gap if doubling up? may help...

I have no sensible suggestions but think that this court is amazing, good work.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.

Here's a visual I knocked up to show how we initially imagined the net working...

Just had a nosy at the court, looks peachy, well done Herne Hill Hardcourt Hardcore!
Good luck with getting netting.

In case people don't check the LHBPA sub forum, it's worth checking for net related things. (Obviously aimed at members of the LHBPA)

The nets are gonna need to be around twice as high as in that mock up though...
-
• #45
I was assuming they'd be level with the boards, that'd give you an extra metre and mean you'd need less on the north side...
-
• #46
Six metres from ground level... I knocked it up in a hurry so not super accurate...

just to say that sports netting isn't 100% especially after some time in the weather - I've got some on cricket nets and balls do break through quite often. it's a year old. it's proper cricket netting - although we went for white which is usually used indoors, rather than green, so check that with the suppliers. dark may be better for not deteriorating in UV etc.

also, this company does a good range of netting - sports, garden, construction, but we found them a pain to deal with (slow getting us samples etc). you might have better luck. http://www.tildenet.co.uk/

Joe's just going to have to do some mending.
6m, that's pretty vast! At that height we'll have to get pretty worried on a windy day (rig some system to take take them up and down?
What about using garden bird netting - super cheap, lives out doors, light weight...
