Ha!

was going to ask how the Veloflex were holding up... thought you'd discovered the ultimate winter gumwall when I read 'Roubaix' the first time around. Someone really needs to invent one soon. (Black Mumbas don't count).

Mounted the Gators this arvo, will sling some sealant in them when they've had a chance to cure and then see how we go.
In an ideal world I'd get the same trouble free 1,500 miles out of the rear and 3,000 miles out of the front that I got on my fixie skidder.

Anything that said Roubaix on the sidewall mean you'll get cut up more time than on a Saturday night in Leytonstone.

I'll put them both on and go for a ride with a couple of spares when the roads clear up- be nice if they could be saved.
Reluctant to pick up a needle and thread? I can sense Edwardz's disappointment all the way from the tub thread.

Let me find my micrometer so I can show how much I care.
-
• #933
You might need the Hadron Collider to find that tiny bit of care.

Very small update: running Gatorskins now and commuting through London on the 'Rotta, so far so good.
I have four (4!) Veloflex Roubaix in various states of air-tightness all hanging up in the spare bedroom now, waiting for the amount of flint on the roads to subside a little.
I also picked up some same-but-different cages from Oswald (thanks!):

Are the old ones stainless king cages and the new ones Ti? If so I don't suppose you're getting rid of the old ones?
-
• #936
Yep, the SS ones will go on the Path Racer when it hoves into view.
-
• #937
Damn. Unsure of whether to get the king cages or arundel ones. Both very nice and the same price. Weight isn't a concern, though.
-
• #938
I've got three pairs of the King cages now. I vote King.
-
• #939
The King cages are very good, they've become my favourite.
-
• #940
I have abused mine quite a considerable amount, the best part is that you can't tell.

Sorry, still no decent photography, here's a quick iPhone one of the bike after todays ~60 miles of Kent lanes:
What saddle bag is this, btw? Looks about the right size and suitably logo / hassle free.
-
• #942
Arundrel I think.
I picked up one cheap from PBK. Its designed to carry a spare tub.
-
• #943
Definitely Arundel, there's smaller one for inner tube if you're not one of those tubbies.
-
• #944
Cheers both.

Any feedback on the eBay Ti axles for your 'lollipop pedals' - thinking of buying Cromo and the Ti axles instead of stainless but don't think I cba with/want to stretch to Ward?
-
• #946
I'm afraid that I can only report on their ability to sit in my toolbox, and upon occasion make me feel a moment of guilt for not having fitted them yet.
I've put thousands of miles on the Ward ones and they've been perfect.
-
• #947
Haha thanks! - Will be buying two pairs of pedals so I don't have to have specific shoes for specific bikes and will get ss for the wet weather bike so I'll take a punt since they're so cheap! I'll try and remember to report back after I've put some miles on them.

If it changes anything I'm planning on eventually putting in an order with ward and we can share shipping, it seems a bit of a no-brainier when you can get the same weight as the ti ones but for half the price, I don't know how/why speedplay feel they can justify the price hike for ti's
Also, dammit, I do enjoy how now in amidst the rest of your stable, a serotta with 6800 looks pretty mundane :)

Could be tempted, will see if I can win an auction for black ebay ones on the cheap first though :)

Look away now Miro_o:
I may rebuild the rear onto a standard hub (it's a Powertap at the moment) and rebuild the power meter onto an Ambrosio Nemesis.
For now I just wanted power measurement on the Serotta as it's a great bike to ride- but I tend to always grab the bike that feeds my nerdism, which recently hasn't been the CSi.
Nice that you found Serotta branded corks.
