Seen a few around Dalston/Islington as well. Quicker than walking and not as sweaty as cycling? Plus parking less of an issue.

It's certainly picking up traction - saw two people rolling back on them last night.
They tend to be the ones with big wheels though. Possibly people use them like folding bikes from mainline station > work?

Yup, seen a few over the last year. Mainly going over Waterloo and London bridges. Agree with Se1derful, tend to be the big wheeled variety.
Seems pretty smart for a short trip (<1mile) from main overground terminus to office. You might look childish but whatevs, haterz be hating on the speed and convenience.

Scooters are the mode of transport for those who would like to ride a sweet baby blue fixeh... but also like the feeling of the wind against their vagina.

No hate - roll on sweet prince!

Can use in a suit, speed without sweat as others have said and can carry into office.
Problem is pavements far too busy near most workplaces and roads not flat enough.
The deal breaker is you can do neither rad nor sick skids.

My three year old has one and does a mean whip skid on request.

I guess they barspin?

In that case I predict associated magazines, Internet fora, clothing labels and trendy shops/cafes. And scooter tattoos.
Better sell my bike

small wheels holes in pavement means your nice suit is holed around the knee and elbow areas
search you tube for scooter incidents .. i'm sure there will be loads
bikes are way safer -

Have I accidentally logged in around 2002?

I bought my daughter one of those heavy duty trick ones with big wheels and a wide platform. Sometimes I pick her up from school by bus and it's great to get to the bus stop quickly - normally it would take me 15 mins. Just bit hurty after a while.

Yep. Get children and it's all legit to use. The bonus is, you can also get to the cinema to see Pixar stuff in 3D without arousing any suspision.

For the man who has everything
I mean this style of scooter, not the motor.

This week I've spotted about a dozen middle aged business types rolling to work on one of these bad boys. Strangely, around the Euston Rd/Kings Cross area for the most part.
Have I missed this growing cultural phenomenon or is this a new wave?
