Ah, not in Hackney, then. :)

It's confusing that the street is called Wick Lane. I don't know if that area south of Fish Island even has a name.

  • Hey Southies. You may want to ride North and help out as well. The court is, after all, going South.

I'm in for both sides if I can make it.

  • I'm in Devon for the next couple weekends, sorry I won't be there to help and good luck with it all.

make sure you bring that tarzan rope down for your dad.

sorry didnt read properly. yep i'll come north if i can.

  • Expected times would be really useful?

I can drive a van, but have lost the paper bit of my driving licence so can't personally hire one (although if sorted out quickly enough I know that the dvla will tell rental places my licence info if I give them permission, I also know that Kendal van hire are willing to do this).

But will depend on timings, (kids swimming lessons and other stuff).

  • count me in for north side help too - depending on timings

  • I can help starting from the North too.

Is the overground running this weekend?

  • Timings from earlier in the thread:

    11am Meet at oak Cycles
    11:30am Load van(s)
    12:45 pm Drive to HH
    1.45pm Arrive at HH
    2-2.30pm Move uprights/boards onto MUGA
    2.30-4.30pm Build court
    4.30-6.30pm Paint court
7pm Celebrate with beer and pizza!

  • I'd say that in order to have all of the wood loaded into vans will take around an hour with 5 people (hopefully less).

The drive should take less than an hour too (38 mins according to Google Maps +traffic time).

I'd say that meeting at 11/11:30 with vans should give us time.

  • make sure you bring that tarzan rope down for your dad.

Hah, I might actually try and sort that this weekend, he'd be stoked... I'm going to need a climbing harness.

  • I am trying my absolute hardest to get the afternoon for this. Can't commit yet but I am doing my best!

  • Excuse my ignoramousness. Whats the PT station for Ryans workshop?

  • Excuse my ignoramousness. Whats the PT station for Ryans workshop?

Nearest is either Hackney Wick or Bow Road. Pudding Mill Lane is even closer, but only good if you're already on the DLR.

  • what's the address?

  • Hackney Wick
    River bank Business Park
    unit 8
    Dye house lane
    E3 2TB

It's behind the Shell gas station on Wick Lane, opposite the Tool Station.

  • Will we get one court's worth of wood over in a single run? By my reckoning we need to transport 40 8' x 4' boards (for a 39m x 21m court) and all the uprights...

Anyone know a good van & man we can use?

  • There's this: http://www.anyvan.com/

It's probably better to not be on someone else's schedule if possible, though. So if someone can drive a cube van (or something similarly large), and one could be rented cheap, that'd be great.

  • ^ Looks like a useful link...

That would be awesome but no volunteers just yet and the LHBPA will be picking up the tab anyway...

Also means one person isn't saddled with having to take the van back when we're finished...

  • B has very kindly offered to drive the van... I'm gonna get all the paint, brushes and rollers bought tomorrow... Screws too but I need to show the guys at HH that we're not gonna ruin the surface by drilling into it, so I'll pop up there and give them a demo...

Weather looks good (crosses fingers) for the whole weekend so I may even go up on Sunday and chuck another coat of paint on if the first one has dried by then...

Er, stay tuned for more info but Tim has got the timings just about right, I reckon...

  • So which paint are we gonna use? Ronseal? Seems like Screw Fix (closest branch to Ryan's is at Bow, closest to HH is Sydenham) have them in stock, Alternatively there is a Tool Station just outside of Ryan's, they don't stock Ronseal but have something else called Fence Mate.

I was gonna rock up to Toolstation in Bermondsey today to get the everything for tomorrow but this seems pointless if there's a branch right next to the pick-up... I don't have transport so this would be way easier...

If I make a list could a couple of you guys grab what we need in the morning before the van shows up?
