LFGSS CC - LFGSS Cycle Club

Most needed: People who can hold the club to account and will help to ensure it operates smoothly.

At the most basic level: People who will attend each AGM, and will periodically review the way that the club operates, takes and spends money, to ensure we're doing everything above board.

And right now: Those people to say to HMRC (on the CASC application I have) that this is a role that they are going to do.

Director has already gone which is pretty disappointing.

Management committee works for me.

Having said that, i really don't mind. I can do math and stuff too so if other people are less keen, I can do treasurer / financial controller etc.

At the first AGM, but unfortunately things have this horrible dependency loop and I can't set up some things without other things already being in place.

i.e. Company must come before HMRC, HMRC status before CASC, British cycling before CASC, bank account before CASC. CASC is required to prove non-profit, to get Shopify and Xero for free, which allows us to sell the jerseys. The jersey revenue pays for the costs of the club and gives us the funds to then do the organisational stuff to organise the AGM, roles, and clarify things.

So weirdly... everything has to be in place in the form of initial and temporary placeholders... so that we can shuffle it all around and then get to the place that means it can all be voted on and I can step back.

Heading to the bank now for the account, and with a few volunteers who are willing to be on the management committee I'll be able to get the CASC stuff done late today/early tomorrow.

Isn't this the point where you have an inaugural "meeting" to temporarily appoint people to those roles until a general meeting is called?

This call for volunteers in the first instance may be enough to get those temporary roles filled, making it easier to move onto the next steps.

From (bitter) experience this step is vital and must not be overlooked.

I'm quite good at communication and organising stuff so could be temporary secretary if you wish...

Paul Flowers passed the test even though he had to leave a charity under a cloud over a matter of £75k-£150k (depending on which report you read), so if you've nicked less than that you should be fine.

Ditto, or even I'm willing to pay for the jersey up front if it has any chance of getting me the jersey sooner!

I would offer to help, but I'm totally disorganised and would probably be more of a liability than help.
