  • You dont call, you dont write! Lol. Bikes gwarn be sick mate. Lemme know when ya back next x

Sorry fella, was a flying visit for a wedding. Feet barely touched the floor. Back Thursday night if you want to grab a drink? Plasterers?

Nurseholiday might, I'll ask him tomorrow.

    That'd be amazing, thanks chap.

  • Not sure which of our All City's will be more garish!

  • Nothing to report because of impending house move - haven't had time to do anything at all recently. But I did notice a tiny little pinprick hole in the weld between the head tube and the top tube. I mentioned it to All City and I'll wait to hear what they say. It's a little frustrating, but not the end of the world.

  • Loosely threw a few bits together, as Kirsty brought the frame up today.

  • And some wheels are always handy...

  • No worries, it was a nice stroll. Good for them, I say (bad for me).

Still, it's all done now and the frame's sitting on top of Kirsty's wardrobe in Norwich. Meanwhile, I'm back in London and have just done this...

Do you know what the diameter of these bars is where you mount the levers?

  • Do you know what the diameter of these bars is where you mount the levers?

    24mm

  • Cheers,

I really wanted some of those bars (wiggle were doing them well cheap)

But it seemed that my gear shifters were not going to fit, and you have confirmed my suspicions correct.

  • Yeah, I bought these cheap on Wiggle. Around £15 I believe. And I didn't realise they were 24mm, but luckily my brake lever was too big for the old bars anyway and had spent 5 years with a couple of wraps of cloth rim tape underneath - now they fit perfectly. But you can't get grips for this size, hence the tape.

May swap them for silver bars at some point though. We'll see.

  • Is this allready the right saddle hight for you? The welding fail would really bug me, the frame is pretty expensive right? I wonder how they respond.

  • Saddle is way too high in that pic. They basically said that if I send the frame back to the distributor then I can get a new one, but I've already had the BB shell and head tube faced, and the BB and headset pressed in. I don't really want to have to do that again. Also, the "distributor" is actually just a mate who has a trade account, and I don't want him to have to deal with sending the frame back etc. I was hoping that they'd just send a new one via courier to me, so I could swap the parts at my leisure and not be without the frame, but no dice. Not sure what to do.

  • Sparks,

Your distributor friend is quite happy to do whatever needs to be done, You want me to see if he can speak to Ison for you tomorrow?

Would that be OK? I think this hole may bug me. God, I'm a pain in the arse.

  • Consider it done. Can you forward the mail from all city?

  • Any updates?

  • Any updates?

Frame went back to ACB because of a welding defect, has been replaced and is at Gav's. I'll pick it up when I get a chance and put it together.

  • When are you around in Norwich dude?

May be headed down to the smoke on Saturday if you are about

  • Bike's built. Just on my way to London Bridge to pick up a long-drop brake, then I'll have the guts to see how it actually rides - currently it has a normal brake that's squeezing tire not rim! Lots of steerer & spacers to lose yet, but comes in at 8.8kg with pedals, Garmin, lights etc.

  • So I've ridden it, finally. A whole mile. It's a little less agile than the Fuji but a lot stiffer. I need to dial in the bar and saddle position so maybe I can make it a bit snappier. Very comfy already, though, and pretty quick.

A properly good bike for hammering around town on.

  • Rode out of town yesterday to see a mountain bike race that a mate was involved in setting up. Wet roads, so bike was muddy when I got there, then I played on the course, then rode home on bridleways. Basically, it was FILTHY. Hilarious fun to ride though.

Downside is that I've spotted an almost identical welding defect in the downtube/headtube join. Bit disappointing to have two frames in a row like this. After six months waiting around though, there's no way I'm doing anything but ignoring it and riding this one.

  • lovely, needs better pics.
    Spacers thought...

  • Steerer will be cut soon, I just want some more miles under my belt first.

  • Aww yeaah! Looks awesome man. So ridiculous about the welds though - but less said about that, the better.

  • Looking good, glad to finally see it up and running!
