  • I know, but the wheels just put 51 square into perspective.

  • Midget (y)

  • its 51 square

    dibs when you sell ;)

  • Is this a road bike, a tourer, a cx or what? Are they canti bosses on the forks?

  • Yes rogan dont like discs

  • You made it sound like it's a bad thing.

  • its a bike for me i guess?

I talked to matt, and said i wanted a bike that was comfy, that I could take on long road rides and it wouldnt feel like i was riding a mtb the whole way, but i could ride towpaths, canals, over some shitty ground and not die

It has the geo of a road bike, clearance for cross tyres and will run cantis

Its not going to win me a road race (who does that anyway??), but it wont slow me down in group rides (just my legs might..)

  • also discs were a consideration but

    1) these forks i got on offer, the cross forks (disc or canti) are normally ~£400 and i paid a bit under 250
    2) i weigh under 70kg

  • Cool, sounds kind of like how I have the Boardman setup really. Just never read the brief, had been expecting something more roadie. Should be good.

    Cantis or mini v?

  • aye! it should ride great for me (i hope)

canti's just now basically because i ran out of money buying blingy bits

I've only ever used shit cantis on shit mtb's so half decent cantis with good pads set up properly by matt should be fine.. and if not i'll get an upgrade at some point

Most sensible thing someone said on the forum, considering half the customer I get were very insistence on wanting the fastest everything.

Canti will be more than enough, if you haven't use them before, you can always ask how to set them up yourself, not difficult, but does need a bit of understanding to get the right power/modulation.

  • sensible thing.

    on the forum

    awww bless you

Well, ask matt to braze on a discreet cable-stop to facilitate "upgrading" to mini Vs

  • Late sub. Looks lovely and similar to what I'd want if I had the monies.

  • im SUPER IMPACIENT this week

    because im SUPER EXCITED

    /likeachildatchristmas

  • How is it painted? you'll still need to give it at least a month for the paint to cure.

  • getting matte black powder at armourtex, with no clearcoat

  • off to armourtex at the start of next week hopefully!

  • That's what I have on my cross bike - nice finish.

  • Looks good! Anyone know how well Archetypes preform with rim brakes? Bit sketchy until the finish wears off or fine from the start?

  • As rad as a funky colour scheme would be, if you don't have the cash/inclination to do it properly at the moment I reckon just going for a matt black PC makes sense.

You can always respray it later on. If you do I would recommend paying someone else to strip it as removing PC is a fucking faff.

  • yeah its getting the powdercoat for sure for now

andy, i've not heard of any problems with the braking at any stage of the wearing process

  • Yeah looking online it seems to be fine. Good to know, was considering building up a similar wheelset or maybe with A23s.

  • Moar updates

  • frames done just needs the painting to be finished (I think its at armourtex)

also matt said he's waiting on the 44mm headtube reamer to arrive, he got sent the wrong one initially

I'm going to collect it (all going well) friday december 13th mid afternoon
