  • Such a mammoth ride surely needs it's own T shirt design...

I vote spoke cards that create a spiral when your wheel spins. Yeah, disc wheels. Everyone has to have disc wheels. It's a thing.

  • done editing

Just out of interest, how much distance does it cut off if you go with my second suggestion of collecting Brent on the outer loop and going with the really tight inner loop?

  • I don't know, I didn't try that

  • I don't know, I didn't try that

Fair enough, I don't know whether you're going for the shortest possible route or trying to take in as many nice roads as you can.

  • Mostly shortest, quickest and least horrible, but I'm quite attached to the idea of finishing in "The Center of London" at Charing Cross, and that means doing Westminster last.

  • Editing route

  • Done: incorporated suggestions from 6pt around Chislehurst.

  • In. Night ride sounds good... so make it 20.00 start =)

  • Off the top of my head, I think we want a brief stop about every 25 to 40 km. Does that sound ok ?

Stopping points should have plenty of room for bikes, a toilet (I can't be having with weeing behind bins at my time of life) and somewhere to get food and drink.

    Candidates so far:

[]0km - The pub at Sidcup Place. Opens at 8am on a Saturday, so maybe we shouldn't start the ride until a few minutes after 8.
    [
]56km - San Remo Cafe in Northolt
[]154km - Shepherds Bush Road Tesco, has customer toilet.
    [
    ]160km - Chez Hairnetnic
[*]173km - LMNH, unless it will be too crowded on a Saturday evening, dunno.

now that this^ is sorted in...

  • Great effort on all the rotue work Earthloop.

All the options are in the last 20k! My bladder will never manage just 1 piss in 154km! but I promise not to piss in any bins and will find suitable sites. Thats what the Royal Parks are for right? (checks route-vows to have pooh before leaving the house)

And it looks like from that list that Hairnetic preferred if we used the toilets at Tesco's, ha, only joking.

    What about Melsbikes Spitalfields option?

  • Barely touches my home borough of Havering. I'm going to abstain on principle.

It's generally a good idea to abstain from havering. :)

  • Offering up my offices in Spitalfields as a stopping point - Artillery Lane - stacks of loos, space for bikes, coffee, tea, water comfy seats, etc

Thanks, I'll add it to the list of possibilities. It's too soon to make final decisions on specific stopping point candidates though, the route is still being changed. For now we're just collecting options.

How much notice do you need ?

  • Stopping point candidates so far:

    • 0km - The pub at Sidcup Place. Opens at 8am on a Saturday, so maybe we shouldn't start the ride until a few minutes after 8.
    • 28km - Oldfield Rd Tesco. Huge, has customer toilet, 500m off current route
    • 56km - San Remo Cafe in Northolt
    • 80km - Coppetts Centre Tesco Superstore. Toilet status unknown, someone pop in and check please
    • 113km - McDonalds Whalebone Lane
    • 120km - McDonalds Claps Gate Lane
    • 154km - Shepherds Bush Road Tesco, has customer toilet.
    • 160km - Chez Hairnetnic
    • 173km - LMNH, unless it will be too crowded on a Saturday evening, dunno.
    • ~175km (currently slightly off route) Melsbikes' Office
  • All the options are in the last 20k! My bladder will never manage just 1 piss in 154km!

Tell your bladder not to worry, we'll find more stopping places to fill in the gaps.

  • There's a McDonalds on Whalebone Lane around 113km if you need an extra bathroom stop.

I can't promise that it won't be full of dickheads though.

    but count me in!

  • This sounds awesome! I live in West London so trying to work out how to get to the start point on time but will definitely do it if I can get that day off. It's going to be epic!

Where abouts, I'll be riding out from west too.

From Chiswick although I was thinking of going by train taking in consideration the long day ahead. It would add an extra 16 miles or so, tough but doable.

  • I have every intention of switching out my road pedals and sticking on the flats for this. So many stop lights, so many slow junctions. I'm still excited about this despite considering borrowing a gas mask or something for the pollution.
