  • Do you have an educated view on Oura, H?

  • As it's also PPG the base issues remain the same, but I quite like the location and form-factor. Plus the team behind it came out of Polar, and the algorithms aren't bad.
(Its probably the one I would go for, if I didn't already have an Apple Watch)

If you want a proper deep dive into the limitations and the algorithmic basis for what either are doing:
    https://peterhcharlton.github.io

If you really want a deep dive there are two dev kits- one from Sony and one that is based of the ESP architecture and git has plenty of code to harness to even do cuffless Blood pressure.

  • My Zoe test kit turned up yesterday. I've opted in to their blood sugar study so applied my monitor this morning. It's quick and painless but I'd suggest if you're squeamish about pointy things, don't look inside the applicator. It looks worse than it is.

  • Snap, mine arrived yonks ago but was totally unprepared so tomorrow is d-day and I stuck the glucose monitor on this morning. Be interested to hear how your experience is to compare.

  • Just eaten the test cookies, feels weird eating something so sweet for breakfast. Also, sorry tmi, took the poo sample ths morning. Shitting into a toilet bowl hammock was an experience!

Had white rice for dinner last night, was interesting to see I didn't have a mad spike in blood sugar which may be down to what I ate it with. Not sure if you've found the blood sugar challenges in the app. Will be worth doing just to illustrate how to control blood sugar spikes. You can read about these by clicking on the speech bubble top right.

  • Wait a minute, you get cookies?! I had to defrost the muffins which were best before 28th August, whoops.

We went to a neighbours house last night for a pre Halloween kids thing and had a couple of mulled ciders and chile with rice. Totally expected a spike but wasn’t too bad.. I think.
Predictably, I missed the shit hammock and will return with the clingfilm, good start to a Monday.

  • Yeah they've changed them to cookies as the muffins were not vegan. They've been repeating on me all morning and now I have to eat the second lot.

  • Just done the blood sample, the piddly little plaster they provided was useless. I bled a lot, had to hold my arm in the air to help it stop.

  • Something in the lunch muffin is making my sugars go apeshit 📈

  • Yeah I feel terrible

  • Something in the lunch muffin is making my sugars go apeshit

    Which is the point.
Checking how you respond in extremis

  • I guess so, not what I was expecting from a ‘fat’ test though.

Now the blood test is finished I can eat something normal right?

  • Today you can.
Unless the process has changed I recall doing various tests over 2 weeks. For the duration of the glucose monitor wearing period

  • Yeah you can now eat what you want. If you have the blood glucose monitor there are challenges you can do to get the most out of it.

  • I was going to sift through the 50 extra curricular challenges tonight but for now we’ll see what 250g of pasta does for my wellness. 😵

  • Does the Zoe app use the Libre 3 data to track the glucose responses or are we supposed to check it manually every three hours after eating? I’ve logged breakfast and can see the graph but can’t understand how to meaningfully compare challenges…?

  • Do all the challenges, try out as much stuff as you can, otherwise you’ll not really see any benefit from it.

  • Deffo, that’s my intention but I can’t see on the app how to compare data points? I can see the curve of my breakfast but if I change for example the milk tomorrow, does the Zoe app make the distinction that it’s a net +/- result?

  • No idea, sorry! See up thread, I found it to be a massive waste of money, but I’m hopeful others would be able to make better use of it. @skydancer seems to have benefitted a lot from it

  • You can log your food on the libre app and track that way. Or log on zoe app and use that

Wouldn't worry tho as you'll get better guidance as you results come back from all the tests.

Took about 6 months to get a grasp on how my personal response to fat, glucose, gut stuff fitted together

A year and a half in, with subsequent gut tests has enlightened me as to what food combos work to optimise diet for me.

Now I can manipulate my diet to fit.

Takes time, focus and perseverance. No. Quick answers.

Worth the effort in terms of energy levels, bowel regularity, sleep satisfaction, mood, food choices and more

  • It's been nearly 48 hours and I haven't done a blue poo. Just read that 30% of people don't get the colour change, I feel cheated, I wanted to do a disco shit.

  • Where did you hear that?!!

Libre confirming this morning that weetabix are the devils biscuits.

@skydancer It’s the shear number of variables and combinations with food that’s taking some time to get my head around, I could totally see myself buying some more blood sugar monitors to experiment further. It’s interesting to be able to put a number on the feeling of sugar rush or dip though.

  • It's in the faqs

  • So... Average glucose for a 7 day period is 6.3 mmol/L. This is all new to me so I'm googling stuff and now self diagnosing pre-diabetes?! Can some random internet strangers reassure me I'm not dying please...
