I lots of variations with dumbbells but not so much bench press. Now I’m lifting heavier I can do bench presses properly now.
I added the Tom Platz variation of the hack squat today. It’s a killer

Dear lord that is stupid.
-
• #4454
I’ll try those squats today. Looks like there’s a lot of technique
No. Don't. Please. They are stupid. You're risking your knees by putting weight through them in such a ridiculous position.
cf. sissy squats too.
There are better & safer exercises available.

It's quite something isn't it ? God knows how he came up with it . Wasnt recommending it, posted purely as it's so out there !

Do I need to go to gym.to give calisthenics a go?
-
• #4457
No, but maybe . You don't need to. Plenty of bodyweight stuff you can do at home with no kit .
It'll be easier in 5he gym with pull up bars, dip stations etc . And unless you have something that looks like a pullup bar at home/ in a park, training back will be tricky

Have you got a tree a home?

It was quite interesting doing that squat. It definitely like it hit some different muscles.
If you’re that worried about me I pinky proms I won’t do them again.
-

I've never tried them tbh. Just remember seeing that vid and thinking how bonkers they were.
-
• #4461
I have nothing at home unless I purchase and fix. Local park doesn't have anything. Just basic machines if that
Dont mind signing up to a gym if needs be. But would like to know what I can do prior to doing so really
-
• #4462
Nope. No tree
-
• #4463
A pull up bar would allow you to do back stuff, and can be reasonably cheap.
You can extend it's use with straps & handles / rings.

God I hate nagging pains
Last couple weeks I think I've bruised my collarbone. Any movement and it aches.
... I miss being young.

Almost Darwin Award stuff at the gym this morning - guy opposite me starts setting up for bench press on one of the big power racks, but instead of working IN the rack where the bar & safetys are already set up, he drags the bench to the outside of the rack & uses the external rack mounts... no warm up, just loads it up and manages about 4 reps before hitting the shakes & nearly dropping the fucking thing - impressively he somehow managed to get it back up without intervention, although the shuddering had made his gigantic headphones fall off & turned his face bright purple, why do people do this - it stresses me out!
Me on the other hand, I stopped before I almost passed out this time - 2 short of my target, but I couldn't let it slide so took a breather then finished the set off, doesn't quite count but still...

I’m looking to move on my adjustable dumbells (up to 36kg), the rack they sit in and my bench- any takers here?
-
• #4467
£ would be half what they cost, which I’d need to lookup.
-
• #4468
why do people do this
ego lifters

• #4469
What are they again?
-
• #4470
Might be interested, yeah?
-
• #4471
Yeah, still amazes me how many scale the peak of mount stupid so brazenly - geniunely stresses me out knowing someone is that oblivious to basic common sense in the general vicinity!
-
• #4472
What are they again?
"BodyMax 36kg Selectabell Dumbbells and Deluxe Stand"
For which I paid £749 during lockdown, here they are on the site I purchased them from.
-
• #4473
I should not have looked at that site.
I really want one of these in rthe garden now:

Unless you've managed to cheat some height in your room- it won't fit, for me by just 4cm.
Have you tried slight variations like incline or decline bench press?
