My (ex) business partner was awful for working late. He would be there at all hours with clients, papers piled up, getting home at 10pm and then having dinner, wouldn't go for a walk during the day, lunch a pack lunch sandwich and a kitkat at his desk, felt that everything would collapse without him there at all times. I will leave it up to you as to whether he was efficiently delegating and/or using his time.
Anyway he had a stroke and hasnt been in for the last year.
I am bad for it as well but we need to make time for health, exercise, relaxation, family. otherwise whats the point?

CBD capsules or roll on?

If its for deadlift around the bar because your first hand is literally tied up , that is normal. You learn to fiddle with your fingers and then crank it like a motorbike accelorator handle.
If its for wrist support, try the above and you'll see that that wrist support is easy.
It's for pulls, so deadlifts, bent over row, chest supported row, single arm row and so on.
I don't want grip strength to be an issue, as my forearms can pump up before the major muscle group I'm targeting is out of grunt.

I know some people with degenerative joint conditions who use CBD to good effect. I find it useful for taking the edge off the pain when my cervical facet syndrome flares up...I think it has anti inflammatory effects for me which reduces the pinching of nerves.
That said, I'm not sure CBD has any effect on maintaining joint health.

Farmer's walks are your friend.
Also, being a plumber helps.

I understand the risks involved but my employer piles on the work. I’ve been put in a difficult position because of redundancies last year where three experienced staff left leaving me as the only one with the necessary experience.
I managed to get a week off now and have been trying to take a break but calls and emails etc still persist and I’m the only one who has the answers (and that’s not an exaggeration). Difficult times for all. -

I know I've said similar a while back, but fat grips. I've been doing 3x 30 second barbell holds with them for a little while now. Grip strength has improved plenty as a result . I've also been using a thinker bar for some deadlift sessions

Id rather try and lessen the cause rather than dull the pain. I’m only 32 so having fucked and achy hands isn’t ideal. I’m 90% sure it’s because I’ve been doing a lot of sanding at work, and the white finger is contributing to pain and stiffness in the morning.
Will see how they feel after a couple weeks of cod liver oil, d3, glucosamine and chondroitin. Hoping that’ll see me right.

Have you tried hook gripping?
Takes a bit of getting used to but is definitely a useful technique.Essentially, put your palm on the bar, fingers open, then wrap your thumb around the bar, and your fingers over your thumb. Can be a bit sore on the skin of your thumb, taping helps. Takes a lot of the power out of gripping the bar.

Id highly recommend going to a climbing physio and get them to examine your hands.
I had a fusion of some small bones in my wrist that got ironed out by one plus alot of physio stretches/exercises supplied and hands and wrists are 100% better!
Also reccomend sufficient sleep and eating loads of fresh veg.
Supplements arent magic beans at the end of the day.

You need 4-5 caps for the same amount of EPA / DHA.
But no oil or fridge needed.

Aye, wasnt meaning joint health, just an option for recovery, I know some folk use it for that/anti inflammatory effects.
I just use it occasionally to get a really deep sleep.

I hear you. I've only really had 4 days off in september, plus christmas. Fucking shite.
-
• #3590
Yup. Things can only get better - the question is when? I work shifts so don’t get ‘normal’ holidays like Christmas etc. The plus side is I am still employed and that the rod that the employees use.

It's a more recent problem that has come on after 4 weeks of daily electric sander use so I'm more inclined to think the issues are related to that (rather than it being specifically climbed related, despite having been doing that for 15 years). However I will deffo get a physio if it persists. Currently not serious enough to be that worried about, but annoying enough that getting back on some supplements seems like it couldn't hurt - if that makes any sense.

Yeah it's probobly definitely the sander and the constant grip/vibration.
I suppose better to be safe then sorry!

I can’t see how I’d make this work in the snatch grip for Romanian deadlifts (which I am doing currently).
60kg plates plus 20kg bar for 11 reps and it’s my forearms that go before anything else , hence the straps that I keep forgetting would be handy!

I hate hook grip btw.

Have you considered figure-8 straps? Impossible to fall off and you don't dick around twisting and twisting and twisting. Loose enough that it's easy to slide them in and out for snatch-grip work too.
My favourite straps of all time I only used the once. Wahlander leather velcros. The seam made them so easy to grip and get tight but they're rare and pricey.
-
• #3596
If you think they are better than standard straps I will get some to try. Other than Wahlander any recommendations for brand?
-
• #3597
I see some mention of cbd. Has anyone found it useful for muscle aches and if so have you got any recommendations of why to buy online?
-
• #3598
Have a look here and see if the design looks like they’d work for you. With straps, I don’t think there’s much in it between different brands other than material. As long as it’s not the absolute cheapest cotton you’ll be fine (and even that’ll hold weight fine, just not years of longevity).
-
• #3599
I bought it from pure sport, worth checking out. I find I sleep really well on it so that helps with muscle soreness but I don't know if thats because of the sleep or the CBD or both.

Hook grip is primarily used in Olympic weightlifting, so I don’t see why you couldn’t - it does take a bit of getting used to though, not denying that.
We were taught to hook grip as it was deemed a necessity. And once used to it, I had no problem doing any kind of snatch pull/deadlift with it - and I’ve got relatively short fingers (easier if they’re longer to get more purchase on the thumb).
Tbh tho, fig 8 straps are probably what you’re after!
You can't drink caps by the pint.
