  • I sort of missed the details of your time frame etc..

I think you can hit your target of what you were capable of before for sure by the end of the month. Keep it simple, you dont need chin ups. Increase your pushup number daily its as easy as that. Remember you are keeping a couple in the tank each set so you wont break a sweat, you can do them at work no problem.

  • Started weight training again after taking around 3 months out for literally no reason...and it's so much harder. Hate myself for stopping but I think the mentality you can get into can be kind of annoying

  • Push ups make me sad. Wehn I was 15 I used to easily do over 100 proper push ups in one go. My max was 140. Now I can hardly do 50.

  • Husy you sound like a bit of a beast mate, my best has always been around 50 and round here that is deemed impressive

  • I'm pretty light though to be fair so you can half those numbers.

  • Watched a guy bench 220kg this evening. He's in his 50's. Poo'd myself a little.

Ive been feet away from a girl jerking 190kg. Nothing like that to make you question everything.

Locally I have seen a bloke bench 260kg with a slingshot.

  • Slingshot?

My max bench was 160 and max push up as around 70. The fucking burn killed me on pushups.

If I could get my act together and quit my vices I'd like to go at it again.

I wish I knew how to quit you.

    ???

  • Slingshot?

It essentially works like reverse band presses and allows for an overload by allowing you to press a weight you wouldn't normally be able to handle .

You're starting to get into the world of '' equipped '' powerlifting with bench shirts , squat suits , etc with these type of aids , although some RAW ( read how most of us train or associate with training ) lifters feel carry over from the slingshot .

  • ^what is this nonsense? I squat naked...

  • ^what is this nonsense? I squat naked...

So do I but only on the toilet...

  • Been pressing up recently with my bag loaded up with weight. Works well.

Hopefully back off to the gym tonight depending on what time I get away from studying.

  • Who is it? Own up!

  • It is indeed.

  • This should be in the Fail thread and the Meme thread at the same time.

    CREATINE RAMPAGES

"Akin says Rodger started taking the drug after a mutual friend died in a body-building accident, trying to lift a 250kg weight.
Rodger drowned his sorrows in the drug, but also used it to build muscle mass which he thought would make him more attractive to women.
'The more I dwell on this the more I realize that it may have set him off and made him turn to creatine to drown his feelings,' Akin said...'On the messages I saw they would taunt him and tell him he will never get girls and he will be forever alone.'"

  • Quick question,

Leg press - im starting to get lower back pain from the press 'driving' my lower back into the chair. This normal? Any suggestions to alleviate or spread the pressure? Would a belt help?

  • Iain + legs = ?

    How about squats instead?

  • With squats you would have a curve of the lower back, maybe it's just too heavy and causing you to go into an un-natural position.

Im being force tot with this silly weather...

  • I don't think a belt would help if you are seated. Can you not replace with squats? They are so much better (although personally more difficult) for your whole lower body.

If you don't have access to a bar/rack etc why not try really slow i.e. 2 sec up, 2 sec hold, 2 sec down leg extensions with a reasonable weight, to really hit your quads. Then if you have to, leg press after that.

Possible. I wont argue against too heavy.

But the feeling isnt of too much weight, but more a feeling that the weight is pushing my hip into the back rest.

And i hate squats. a moment of distraction causes months of pain.

  • Get a spotter, who can keep your technique in check?

  • guess starting squats means starting super light and building up again...

    *fuck squats. Hate them.
