  • Oh sorry, THOSE roadies...

  • No. I hate being called a 'cyclist'. Like my choice of machine defines me.

    Exactly, roadies are a clique.

Roadie isn't a bike, it's an expensive lifestyle choice.

I hate being called a fishmonger, as if my choice of job defines me. The capitalist pig bastards. Though if I'm monging a fish I suppose I am a fishmonger at that current time. If I'm riding a bike then I'm a cyclist. If I'm punching a ferret then there's probably a label for that too. And a specialist forum somewhere...

  • It's like that time I had a job inserting units of fudge into cardboard receptacles and every cunt called me a 'fudgepacker'. I mean, what's up with that?

  • And, also, that thread title: 'Roadies: the Daily Mail Reader of cycling' should of course be: 'Roadies: the Daily Mail Readers of cycling'. I guess you can't expect any more in a thread started by a roadie.

  • DEATH TO TOADIE

  • Skully, you should spend a day at work with me. It's the epicentre of entry level willy waving doesitconnectwithStrava JohnfromHRhasoneofthose Idotri Ineedgelstofuelmyperformance I'mgoingtoPariswiththeoffice whatdoyoumeanasportiveisnotarace cycling. At the first drop of rain it all becomes really quiet. I do like my plastic bike and my lycra but I understand.

  • But you're extremely quick to define (and denigrate) other people by their choice of machine.

    Tandem crossbike anyone?

    Yes! Absolutely Lolo...
    Lycra: not bad in itself
    Roadbikes: ditto
    Roadiedouchebaggery: Not OK.

  • Does this thread have a point or should I merge it with all the other cycling 'clan' whinge threads?

    Fucking cliquey cyclists >>>

    #deathtohippys

Remember when we were all just 'cyclists?'

.. fixed gear isn't like other cycling, it stands on it's own, it's own sub culture...

    #deathtoboaties

  • Aussie Roadies are the worst for budgie abuse, MTV says so.

    Pimp my Budgie

  • Exactly, roadies are a clique.

Roadie isn't a bike, it's an expensive lifestyle choice.

Does that make me, my 2nd hand Rapah and my relatively inexpensive road bike a "gearie" instead?

  • I ride a roadbike because I wanted something for commuting and for the weekend, and I quite enjoy road bikes everywhere, particularly if it means overtaking a mamil on a 5k carbon monster. I don't mind any of the cliques particularly, except reckless borisbikers. Not sure if a 'death to boris' t-shirt would go down so well in town though.

  • Can I just add that the op was the beer talking, Drunk troll is obvious troll, no?

    WTF are you talking about?

Some people like to ride or race road bikes wearing lycra.. holy shit, what a bunch of cunts they are.

  • Pimp my Budgie
If the Big Daddy shorts fit ...

Does that make me, my 2nd hand Rapah and my relatively inexpensive road bike a "gearie" instead?

Are you a roadie douchebag? I have no idea.

Some people obviously identify with the object of my ire. If the Castelli armwarmers fit ...

    Bullshit excuses >>>

    Arm warmers?

Don't need them, god gave me hairy arms, and legs...

Guess that knocks me out of roadie douche bag contention.

I have Castelli arm warmers.. would it help if I had different skin colour too so you could avoid me when I'm not on my bike?

You completely missed the point, no? Lycra: ok whatever if you insist. Roadbikes: amazing wonderful things. Neither of these things define the Roadiedouche. The Roadiedouche is described well by Lolo.

  • I'd still prefer wannabes to be riding to Box Hill talking about their next share purchase than driving their Porsche out there, side-swiping me because I'm in the way.

  • Anyway, fuck this. You just hit a nerve and I've got more important shit to whinge about.

  • ^^Fair point well put.

^ Yeah don't take it personally. It was never about you.

He hasn't even rolled up his trousers. He's going to ruin those.
