I was going to announce registration last night but had to make a few tweaks so sorry to all those I saw at polo and said it would be ready...
Yes, registration is indeed open!

I remember when the London Open was actually open. And then other tournaments called themselves 'open' but were actually capped, Londoners mocked those tournaments to the point where they held a London Klosed (sp?) tournament, which I think was actually open. But those tournaments didn't listen and now the London Open is capped and no longer open.
Confused, but looking forward to what will certainly be the best tournament of the year.

I always though open meant non-invitational.
-
• #35
It's being limited to 70 something teams... That's hardly a small number.

Originally the Open was designed to grow with each subsequent year (never capping the number of teams), but last year proved this is perhaps a bad way to experience/showcase bike polo.
Traditionally 'Open' means 'non-invitational', so a cap isn't so bad (the bullshit "first come first served except for X, Y, Z teams" stuff has got to stop though, this has never been an issue in London, thankfully).
Giving the notice (and lack of Worlds in Europe), I think you'll struggle to get 72 teams, I imagine it will be an awesome tournament regardless.

Apparently team Dead Locos is registered, guess who?
-

I was just being facetious, but actually I genuinely didn't know that 'open' just meant non-invitational, so now I look even stupider.

Yeah, unlimited is a nice idea, and I love that we did it, but... we didn't want to repeat last year.
72 is still more teams than the euros this year.

Dany from Czech Rep needs a team.
Good player, someone pick him up.

is LOS GUAPOS beagle

• #42
When will you announce the registered teams? cheers
-
• #43
Yes the term 'Open' in terms of tournaments has traditionally meant that you did not need to qualify beforehand. You just pay your dues and in you come. But putting a limit on the number of teams that can openly enter makes sense. There are only three courts.

Shit, I seem to be a free agent as Dice has family stuff to do and Josie is playing with others. Anyone need a third or would like to make a chaos team? I just wanna play!

Is it possible to see a team list for this?
-
• #46
How full is registration?
I don't have a team and would like to know the urgency that I should sort my shit out with.
-
• #47
Half full right now.
I'm just waiting on access, then I'll post some team lists up.
