  • Now that it looks like the Time Machine is actually going to happen I need to make some changes to this- I need the cranks and the rear rotor to be specific.

  • I'm going this year, so I'm looking forward to June. Still undecided on what bike I should bring, I guess I still have some time to decide.

  • I would not use a stiff alloy cross bike if I am honest- a large factor behind buying the Serotta was to have something steel with tubs in case of return to the cobbles.

  • ^^^brixton brixton brixton brixton ...rollapaloser :(
at least I've got the right kit now.

What's the name of/where did you source your number mount bracket doohickey?

  • I could tell you, but apparently it's equivalent to writing your strava ID on your frame.

Sure you can take the burning shame?

  • My giant has a hole in the appropriate place; I have access to a laminator at the office and am looking forward to making my 'dickhead' strava commute id. I would like to mount it in the correct fashion. I'm ready.

  • Can you make me a Penguin one?

Possibly with "Balls, suck 'em" underneath in the correct font?

  • BTW that bike is in the stand, ready for your input.

  • Around late afternoon? Working at the moment, heading over to Nunhead this eve. Can go the long way...

  • Sounds good.

  • Shouldn't be a problem if you think about MTB going through large puddle and the like.

Yep. Not a troll... Discs don't get hot then cold enough to warp using this method. The water is just to verify you have got them hot enough, more than anything else.

  • Which levers are you using Dammit?

  • They are the Retroshift levers, which I believe are actually Tektro R200 levers with a bit of machining done to accept the shifter.

The ones I have are the linear pull version in order to use MTB BB7's.

  • heading over imminently, that ok?

  • Thanks for the info, I'm looking for levers for use with MTB BB7's and i'm not really sure what to use. It looks like the R200 has been replaced with the R520 i think, for the money they might be worth a try.

The bike looks great by the way, I missed this thread some how.

  • Tom- sure, head over.

This thread revival has motivated me to do some jobs I'd been putting off.

You can still use Road BB7 with normal levers.

  • If stopping is unimportant to you.

  • They work just as well as your.

  • You keep saying that Ed, but it's totally at odds with my experience of them.

One of us is wrong, and I trust my own experience.

  • They used to perform poorly, and now they work perfectly, largely down to set-up.

You can always ask JB for his opinion of the Road BB7.

  • Still not buying it, I tried a lot of different setups, including compresionless housing/dead straight cuts/blah blah.

I don't disagree that they can be setup to work for a very limited window of time, but I want and need brakes that last more than 30 minutes before needing to go back in the stand.
