  • Yeah, I bought some 120 to 126mm spacer kit from velosolo but I haven't fitted the wheel with them yet but I think its sorted.
No its a used one of someone on here. 60mm so nice and short. I'll polish it up along with the cranks before its all finished.
They come up regularly in this size on ebay etc though. If you just search 60 quill or something along those lines. BLB do one in this size too.
I think its 25.4 handlebar clamp if thats what you mean. 26 is newer stems I believe.

  • Oops! Yeah 25.4mm is what I meant. Was practicaly falling asleep when I wrote that! Ok cheers

  • You've got mail re: handlebars.

  • any progress?

  • Got everything but brake cables, headset and bb. Those last two I'll have fitted by lbs after paint.
Will get it powder coated when I get around to it
Know if I'll be able to find a bb easy enough to fit the crankset I have? It would have had a cottered crank on originally I assume. I'm clueless on BBs and drivetrain parts

  • Don't know whether to stick with the 28c Vittorias now or BLB have fyxation tyres in white 35c for 15 quid. Would probably fit on the bike fine and maybe a chunkier tyre would be better for her. I know they're gonna be a bit shit but she's only riding ten minutes up the road on it.

  • Frame is with Armourtex. It's being done in a pastel blue with the laquer that has nickel glitter in! I'll get it back on Friday or Saturday. Looking forward to it.

  • me too!

  • Just picked the frame up from Armourtex. It looks like they've done a lovely job. Going to try and get a BB and headset fitted today and then I'll get a picture.

  • Cooool!

  • J'ai fini

Its difficult to photograph the sparkle in the paint but its really nice

Just need to polish the old sugino cranks now and then its finished

  • Man! That is SO NICE!

    Congratulations!

  • Pretty! We need a mixte gallery...

  • Aha! I have one of these now - similiar project for the 'other' half.

Glad to see one at the other process, gives me something to aim for.

  • So is gf enjoying this lovely bike?

  • Chain look a little tight, saddle nose might need to be a little higher to stop her sliding forward (brooks saddle typically need the nose a little higher), and flip the brake round to allow a better cable routing.

  • good advice indeed. Just stumbled on another thread with a lovely mixte with exactly that advice applied.

  • She has said about the saddle angle actually so thats a good point Ed, I hadn't realised. I'll try and figure something to sort the brake cable this week too.

  • Another one going cheap here...

Could make a nice birthday present for my mother who's had her hip replaced and wants to try cycling.

Can anyone tell by looking whether that's a large, medium or small frame?!

  • According to this site:

    http://www.carltoncycles.me.uk/models/courette.htm

Those (and this) are 531 Reynolds tubing. Not bad for £30.

From the look of the pictures, both this one and the one you linked are the same size.

  • Well Phil, any idea what size it is?

  • It does look to be about the same size but there's no way I could tell by pictures if its 2 cm bigger or smaller etc.
My girlfriends frame is apparently a 52cm though I haven't measured it.

  • Just saw the price and using a old to new currency converter, discovered the bike would have been around 410 pounds new in todays money. That was the value of the pound as of 2005 so a little more now I'm sure

  • Yes, agree it's difficult to tell. Plus collection from middle of nowhere!

  • Its listed in Performance exhaust parts?
