I've got a timbuk2 bag, med I think. Its comfy n stays pretty much in place, waterproof. Its got the padded laptop bit which takes up quite a chunk of the main but loads of pockets and zips to get in through.
It was only 60 from evans -

I have an Ortlieb and an Archies Grobag for fakenginering around with.
I use the Ortlieb every day and it's falling apart and not big enough... but... I use it every day.
The messenger bag is massively expandable and totally comfortable but huge, and more huge than I want to ride with most of the time. I think I'm going to get panniers for loads bigger/heavier than the Ortlieb can handle.
Offers for the Grobag welcome. :)

I've still not sold (or used) this...
If you want a messenger bag - this one is new and for sale.
It's comfortable, big and waterproof.
What's not to like?

For me, it depends on what I do. I got a Dakine backpack which is a bit bigger then my messenger bag. I use it when I go to the gym or have to carry more heavy things. For regular commuting however, I prefer my crumpler messenger bag. The reason for this is, is that it's not covering my armpits. When using a regular backpack the armpits are covered and less air can reach that spot during a ride. this results in a more sweaty shirt. I don't have that problem with a messenger which is why I prefer it.

This!
Exactly why I want a messenger bag too, so I can choose between the rucksack and messenger bag depending on the task at hand... Glad there's someone on the same page as me.
Another +1 for Ortliebs.
I've ridden an excellent courier bag for years (a Scott one) and I love it. feels great when riding and swallows everything I throw at it. But they are worse for your back. It doesn't matter if you ride 5 or 50 minutes. They will create an imbalance in your body. They are also rubbish when walking about.
Unless you're a courier, grab an Ortlieb Velocity or Messenger and avoid costly osteopath bills. They are more like a courier bag than a rucksack and work just as well when being a walkenger.
