The stripes^^
They're just 'champion' stripes. Not exactly distinctive. Lots of not-champion people have sported these in the past, myself included on my shit nylon clothing.
you mean the stripes on the seattube? i'm aware of that.
was talking about the double lines on the top and downtube (and as it seems.. all over the thing) -

Small update:
I have a track hub. Tomorrow I'm handing the hub and a rim to a guy who will build me a rear wheel.
I have a Cinelli track handlebar (at least I think it is, has the old crest logo 2 times) and I'll combine this with a Titan Luxe (60s era) stem.
I don't have pedals yet. Any suggestions?

Absoloutely amazing, looks SO good in gold + rust.
Campag super-record pedals, no less.

Damned, the guy I thought that would be able to build my rear wheel told me he's not capable to do it.
I contacted a shop, and they're asking 65 euro (55 pounds) to get it build (including new spokes). Seems a bit much to me (honestly, I have no idea). So no progress on the wheel building side.
On the pedal side: I've found a pair of Campagnolo Superleggeri pista pedals (rough condition) for a semi-good price. I'm expecting an e-mail with payment details. I hope it goes through, I didn't think I would be able to afford those pedals.
Next update willl include some pictures, I promise.

Anyway, snapped some progress-pictures. I still have to polish/clean up the handlebars.
Tell me what you think, all feedback welcome! -

I tend to favor alu / carbon frames, but this is sick. Those lugs are super sexy and the rust makes it perfect. If I were you I would buy a second hand not new looking track wheels. Something Italian offcourse, maybe old campa track wheels? No high aero rims, just oldschool.
Regarding the handlebars:
There are things you can do. First clean it with brake cleaner. Easiest way to remove the dirt and the old glue or possibly even shellac. Then use Scotch Brite to get rid of all the scratches. Do not use sandpaper or anything.
If this was a newer type of Bike I would suggest polishing this after the scotch brite but this this, I don't know. Might look better just to clean it and use cork or cloth tape at the bottom of the drops. -

Regarding tape, I ordered this: dirty white/crème/brown/whatever

I would have chosen a dark brown color since that's the color of your saddle. But this might work just as well. Make an update when it's on the bars. I would love to see the result.

no problemo!
Thanks, I will try this!

i bought that tape in black last year and wasn't very satisfied.
very short (probably intended for a half wrap) and thin as a razor.
the finishing tape looks great though, and the box where it came in is still on my bookshelf:) -

Quick question: I found spokes on a second hand market yesterday. Tried to lace a wheel with the help of Sheldon Brown and Youtube, went quite ok. But, while tightening the spokes, I can't cover all the thread on the spokes.. Conclusion, spokes are too long?

Stunning, straight to porn.
That bar tape is going to look amazing once it's had oily hands on it and weathered a little!

Good job. Like the way this is coming along.
