  • Looks like I'm out now. Friends wants to do a training ride before London to Paris,so will be riding Cambridge and back instead on Friday evening.

  • Bring them along, two birds one stone.

  • Is there a route map somewhere? Is it Breaker's Bristol route, which is via Bath, that Doppelkorn posted?

  • we have a route? shit, I thought we were following the music and finding our way from there.

  • To be fair, in the morning Chris was probably as happy as these two.

  • but not as camp, and that was dunrun not TNRC.

And you confuse happiness with drunkeness far too easily.

  • And you confuse happiness with drunkeness far too easily.

Which is understandable given the large overlap between the two.

    *TNRC advises responsible drinking

Laner, convince them to come along. We can supply spare lumens...

  • Boo!

  • I'm 50/50 on this pending recovery of soreness following an audax today.

On the plus side I was 50/50 before today and after the actual ride I'm still 50/50.

  • just re-tracing Sam's route now...

  • Laner, convince them to come along. We can supply spare lumens...

the problem is more that there bike as brakless installed, and i don't think this is the ride for that

  • they want to ride 'less to Paris? I'm sur ethey can find another ride.

PS the route that includes the two tunels involves a bit of dog leg around the cit centre the back in. Otherwise it'll be Sam's route:

I've just noticed that the route above has been a little over zealous with some cycle paths so I'll go back and amend in the morning... Or just use the route from last year. For some reason my 800 doesn't like ridewithgps...

  • also, does this route out to farnborough look okay?

    http://connect.garmin.com/course/4009464

I know the virginia water/staines area but not beyond there..

  • okay so, after an hour of faffing with both google and openstreetmaps I've determined that there are no route finding services that currently offer decent subterranean guidance.

    We'll be following Braker's route
to the canal, at which point those who would like to breeze along there into town can do (it's simple) ad I'll take anyone who fancies it up a short incline and down into the two tunnels greenway. Where we emerge just past the meeting spot which will be Wild Cafe on Queen St.

  • Boo!

  • weather is looking reasonable, bit of cloud, 20% chance of rain before setting off then lows of 14 through the night. Long sleeves rather than jacket weather.

  • What about the headwind?

  • Hurrah! Some last minute reshuffling means I'm in...

I'll be riding out (happy to meet you somewhere Ben, if you are still thinking of doing the same?). I'll need to hop on a train back fairly sharply after breakfast though (sticking my head under a cold tap and slapping my face repeatedly to stay awake for the TdF is sadly not an option for me this year!). Tickets seem to be £26 - anyone know if that's significantly cheaper than buying on the day (some flexibility would obviously be handy)?

  • Mr. Munch, I would be very grateful to have a friend for the ride out. I'm aiming to grab some food near Trafalgar Sq. at 7.45pm then ride out about 8.30 to meet the guys at the station 11.15pm.

    I'll pm you my number.

  • What about the headwind?

as if there's a headwind with me up front. Boat. Sized. Human.

it's a shame Sam's not coming, he's the only LFGSS rider I can hide behind... maybe Apollo actually, and Zanda to a lesser degree.
