  • I'm after a 5mm allen key to go on a keying. As small and neat as possible.

Anyone seen or have something that fits the bill.

Obvious back up is chopping one up. But right now I'd sooner buy something prefabbed

  • What for out of interest?

  • Pocket dump!!

Been carrying my Space Pen in my pocket, bit more patina on it now but still looking fresh... Quick Eze for gentlemen of a certain age...

  • The side cover of my motorbike had a useless coin screw which I replaced with a modified music stand knob which has a 5mm allen key. Also the seat bolts need a 5mm allen key.

There is an Allen key hidden under the side cover, so in theory I just use the knob with my fingers, but in practice I get prang and prefer to do it up tight. So was wondering about adding something small that would help.

    Niche.

  • Use a gopro thumb screw?

You could swap swap the screwdriver bit for a 5mm allen drill bit

  • That's the sort of thing. Cheers.

@adroit - that's basically what I've made. Tbf it's quite a long screw, so I should probably stop worrying. But as I have a jailer's worth of keys for my bike an extra thing on there didn't seem like a bad idea.

  • Been carrying my Space Pen in my pocket

I lost two and gave up, the clip shouldnt be removeable imo. shame becuase it was a great pen.

  • As its for a motorbike what about just stashing a tiny tool like this in a cubby / tapped to a tube?

    or

  • shame becuase it was a great pen

Are they? Read poor reviews and steered clear

  • I wouldnt write an essay with one, but to keep in my pocket for work stuff (signing for parcels, taking quick notes about configs etc when you only have a wall to press on) it was ideal.

I would probably buy something like a Zebra 2236 if i needed this now, as its so cheap i wouldnt be annoyed to loose it.

  • I do usually carry a little pouch made from an old filofax case I'll try and post a pic of at some point. That has a set of allen keys.

I was looking at that tiny Park Tools one, Aw3(?) is it? But the top peak one looks better. The Omni thing looks epic, but is pricey and I have one of these that's fucking great.

The main hassle is that Triumph didn't think to make just a tiny bit of space on my bike for a mini tool kit.

  • That's a Bahco one. I've got it. Incredibly useful - best tool purchase in a long time!

The Topeak set looks good but disproportionately expensive.

  • Sorry slow edit, but exactly.

That said there's a sick Wera one that I'd have if money were no object.

  • Here it is.

I should really update it as I don't have tubeless wheels anymore and can't see anytime in the near future I convert them, so the Dynaplug is redundant.

That said when I did get a puncture the co2 was enough to ascertain that it wasn't a slow puncture or someone letting a tyre down to steel it later and meant I could ride it some where safer to park over night and borrow some locks.

I think I'm going to go for that Ti keybar, as it's really to add to my keys for when I don't have my pouch - which is rare.

  • It is.

Just a question of which is discounted at the time you want one.

  • Looks identical to the Bosch

Most tool manufacturers seem to make/sell a variant of the set. I imagine they're all basically identical.

  • Wera do lovely little kits in their xmas advent calendars.

You can look up what you'll get but it kinda spoils the fun. This is from last year.

  • Always liked the look of these, but could never justify the expense.

I've got my eye on the new Wera Turbo stuff tho!

  • I had a look at them but a fair few reviews say they don't have high torque due to the gearing.

I bought Lidl's electric screwdriver for £30ish and for taking sockets and switches off while doing EICR's it rocks.

  • Admittedly if I wanted accurate torque to tighten terminals on DB's I'd get this.

Nice but spendy as you'd have to calibrate it yearly.

  • Anyway. None of these are EDC really unless you have a van.

  • On mini tool kits, I just got a Blackburn Switch Ratchet and it’s great

  • Silca torque wrench here. Great tool and looks the part, just make sure you only use the torque tube bit when tightening down bolts.

I also have that Bahco set, which comes in handy from time to time. I do prefer to use my tiny Facom ratchet for the bike though.
