out in the chilterns, I'm in chesham/amersham (end of the Met line) and rich(super pista) and kingy(disc'd ferrari) live in aylesbury.
chiltern line trains run from marylebone to aylesbury a couple of times a hour.
I might plan a rough route on map my ride tonight so you guys can see the sort of route it would be, I may need some help sorting getting back into london though.

Amersham back to London is my territory. Ride to rickmansworth then follow Sustains route 6(?) to bushey. The route is pretty wide and empty enough to be fun. Then go through bushey, up high rd and sparrows herne, down stanmore hill then into Harrow. Getting to town is easy from there, either ride straight down the A5, or follow a more scenic route. Drop me a PM if you seriously want a hand :)

If people were up for coming out this way me and rich would be happy to plan and lead a ride. Maybe start out here and attack some hills, proper hills not the gradual slopes that were being called hills on Saturday, and then slowly make our way back into London.
I didn't see you attacking the gradual slopes on Saturday, so I would be very interested to watch you attack the 'hills' you speak of.
:-)

those were totes hills. well they were if you're carrying over 16st plus a messenger bag up them on stupid gearing.
HTFU that route is pancake flat and you know it.

The one bit of 10% that is (not really) on that route was a downhill after Rob and I forgot to turn right just before it. Epic skid and a short grinding climb back up to the turn off was the only climbing I did.

don't you have some indoor turbo riding to do? >>>>>>>>>>>>>

IT's ON!
I'll try and figure something out where the ascents may even challenge the tag along roadie douchebags but the decents have enough run out for the rad to the max fixie skidda.

I have never claimed to be nor intend to become a seasoned long distance rider.
my idea of a testing ride is with either an epic hangover or ingesting an epic amount of lager along the way.

The below are quotes that I definitely didn't just take from your posts on a thread you started about building a bike that could be used for long rides with hills.
"My goal is to have a bike that I can do mid distance fixed rides on (60-100mi, some hills)"
"this will be the most expensive bike I own for the forseeable future and it'll be kept for 'proper' riding"
"the criteria for it being suitable for longer rides"
-
• #619
i believe that says mid distance and 'some' hills.
i would categorise riding ~80 in a day on a route that had up and down bits in it to fulfill that criteria.

I'm 16 and a half, no messenger bag, but didn't notice the hills... There was the odd undulation but definitely no hills.

Be fair, it does hit 4% on the way up to Epping and it is pretty steep if you miss that right hand turn...

Anyone who takes a messenger bag on a long ride has only themselves to blame.
