• Cambridge at 18:04 to london liverpool st is only £8 per person when booked for four people.

don't book tickets. you can get that price on groupsave.

  • 51x14

    Too spinny.

  • 52x12

  • Dunno how you turned this into a Cambridge ride, but you did the right thing. Cambridge ride is ace. Ludd led some of us last November on a really good route for the last third, that was on lovely back lanes that improved the traditional forum route a lot. Worth trying to work out exactly what route it was.

Have fun you kids and remember to, uh, like, do a skid.

  • I thought you were going to join us?

  • just tweaked dimi's route to start us out at lmnh and end at cambridge rail station

haven't ridden this route before so can someone else sanity check the route and make sure I didn't fuck anything up.

    http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2979342

btw am not leading this ride. but will have a copy on my garmin so we have a backup assuming we stick to dimi's route.

HB you fool you've missed out the DNA path...
if you're going to Gt Shelford, go past the station then second left, follow Chaston Rd and it will take you there. I think google etc direct you to turn right just before the railway bridge on Cambridge Rd - don't do it, complete pain turning right.
from the end of the DNA path is now traffic-free to the station, alongside the guided bus lane.

  • don't book tickets. you can get that price on groupsave.

DW wasn't planning to considering the last min flounce rate :P

Will you be joining us on the ride?

  • i was just re-routing dimi's route to end up in cambridge and not wherever he ended up.

having googled the dna path i can amend the route but it seems to end at the hospital and given i've never been to cambridge i don't know what routes there are to get to the station but i guess we can wing it from there if it's a case of following a bus lane.

  • look at the last couple of miles of this

    ^^ not me, I'm "resting" before surrey100!

  • Fair enough, good luck in that!

  • also not sure which lanes Skully is referring to, but if you come in via Grantchester Meadows and Coe Fen it's super pretty. if you've never been I'd recommend the DNA route though.

  • The last time I rode there on a forum ride it took us 6 or so hours. With stops. It was a very relaxed pace. I'd expect it to take the same this time.

    PS when is brologue?

  • Dunno how you turned this into a Cambridge ride, but you did the right thing.

We're going to Cambridge because its Gay Pride tomorrow in Brighton.

  • Brologue meets at LMNH from half 4 ready for the gran depart to the park...

I'll be in the area from mid afternoon.

ugh last year riding into brighton when it was pride was like riding into a warzone. wasn't the festival bit though but where all the students/townies were getting drunk/violent. broken glass and beligerent cunts everywhere along down behind the pavillion.

  • We're going to Cambridge because its Gay Pride tomorrow in Brighton.

It's HHSB Pride in Cambridge tomorrow. Have a safe journey.....

  • Thanks Tim, I'm sure now that you've posted here we'll have great weather for this ride :)

  • Greetings Indra,

I'm not a betting man, but I wouldn't mind having a punt that the weather will be lovely for you all....

    Peace and love,
    Tim

  • Tim's mad pun game

  • George, answer your texts.

  • will be going home and then will head back to lmnh at around 7.30 I'd imagine.

  • If the weathers good, puntage would be the perfect come down. even go for a swim. if you only make it to the station, you'll miss out all the best pubs, which are in the city, north of the station. 30+ degrees outside right now and sweaty.

  • HB's routelooks very similar to Laner's from the last HHSB Cambs ride: its very smooth, traffic-free mostly, goes through the cyclist-keen Roydon;

difference is the ending: reckon the Science Park cycle-lane route into town (alongside strange bus-only roads) was a little questionable - although we did enjoy a low/high-five moment with locals riding the other way!! - maybe good to ride it once, the through-the-houses route is probably more interesting..

    HB's route

    Laner's

    ps.

the parky bit of Cambs was very good for riverside-Tramps (with optional punting),

    bon velo,
