I don't believe either of you.
A load of roads were closed in Walthamstow as part of the mini holland trials and the traffic got WORSE, until the council decided to go ahead with the road closures because the traffic had mysteriously evaporated- oh.

Increased capacity causes increased traffic, not decreased congestion.
I'd hope that restricting these ratruns would have an equivalent opposite effect.

I love this idea of a road that's 'at capacity' somehow getting worse.
In my mind, I see this
But less cool

Someones going to get murdered in an incident like this one of these days.

Kenneth Noye's due to get out soon.

Priory Lane does needs something doing with it. So many cyclists using it for both commuting and leisure that it needs some kind of notification to drivers to be considerate to cyclists. This could be just some cycle signs painted on the road, a 20 limit and a "caution cyclists" sign.
The existing shared path confuses drivers. They think (wrongly of course) that cyclists should "get in their lane". The path is however useful for slower/younger/less confident cyclists who would prefer to be taken out of direct conflict with other road users. I've used it when I've got the little one on the bike and often see people pottering down it. As people have mentioned, it doesn't even make it all the way direct to Richmond park (I think it does an extra wiggle) nor does it get as far as the primary school, which seems odd. I also don't like the "give way" signs at every junction. I didn't realise the entrance to the LTA was such a major road that needed precedent!
Anyway, TL:DR - something to inform drivers that cyclists will be and should be cycling on the road on Priory Lane would be a good thing.
However, Turbo Knobs like that guy from Brew are beyond help.

I did actually think about Mr. Noye when I was watching the video.

Drivers always blast at cyclists on Priory Lane due to their personal Highway Code.

All we need is a government wide education program about how to drive with cyclists.
It worked in others countries, no reason why not here.

More fun is coming out of Richmond Park, up Priory Lane and turning right at the mini-roundabout into Danebury Avenue.
I've lost count of the number of times that, despite clear signalling and already being on mini-roundabout, I've had to emergency stop to avoid a driver coming down Priory Lane and driving straight through the mini-roundabout.
Next time I need new forks/bars I know where to go to get a free pair.

Which way is worse for rages, near misses, etc? descending side or ascending side?

Driving lessons teach you to leave room and be considerate - I should know, I'm (re)learning right now. Problem is, as soon as anyone passes they immediately learn to drive like cunts. It's London's fault.

The website is registered to 4 Elm Bank Gardens, SW13 0NT which is less than a mile from the northern end of Priory Lane. This isn't the address of the admin contact Ryan Newman, aka Scootek, a one-man-band based out of Davina House, Goswell Rd EC1V.

Then further education and change of law would be needed, I.e. Stop encouraging people to drive in London.

I unequivocally agree.

Did someone say 'think horse'?

You can't do it that way, you're going right up against the motor lobby.
If cyclists crowd-funded a PIF campaign then just setting out the reasons for Primary would be helpful.

Cycling primary all the way down priory lane is the way to go anyway. If you're anywhere near the gutter, someone will try and squeeze through with a car coming the other way. As soon as you plonk yourself towards the middle drivers have to wait until it is properly safe.
Also, I find when you ride primary, drivers judge the whole event better. They slow down earlier, wait for the right moment, accelerate gently and cruise past. If you sit in the gutter they drift up close too quickly, brake, edge out, then floor it past an inch from your elbow.

I did actually think about Mr. Noye
Don't even THINK about Mr Noye, I remember this delightful gent from my yoof, he could start a fight in an empty phone box. If he wandered into a pub, those in the know rapidly wandered out...

Why didn't I think of that?! I'm getting some before tomorrow's commute...
-

Don't even THINK about Mr Noye,
Yes, Colin i'm aware of Noye's criminal past he also stabbed a detective to death as well.
However Noye is the embodiment of road-rage evil and those of us who go back a bit can't help wondering if there are MK2 versions of him about.

@shanedawson I know it's the law but seriously, who the fuck thought people should ride their bikes in the fucking street? literally so tempting to kill

Google "traffic melt". Make that road access-traffic only and the number of cars on other roads won't go up.
