  • The advance of aero position, high intensity training and carbon products has done more to break the record than anything else. Look at Wiggins, he failed miserably to break the 10 record in May. I doubt it was down to bananas and a protein shake...

  • If you look at the time gaps he stopped trying after 9 miles.

  • I always mis-read that particular sign-off as 'amido nitrite',
(apologies I sell chemicals for a living),
and it does sound like a Pro-level faux-science supplement.

  • I sell chemicals for a living

  • Obviously it's not down to just one thing. I'm just saying that there's marginal gains to be had in pretty much everything.

  • He laughs at gels. Sugar + water, mostly.

    Like jam then.

But a bit easier to stash in your bibs.

  • And yes, fish and peanut butter are surprisingly good together :)

    Confirmed. Amazing!

  • Nah mate,
    stuff to the building industry,
    MDI and aliphatic polyurethanes.

Although a few companies I supply could learn some business acumen from Stringer Bell.

  • Hiding bodies in vacant lots?

    Confession thread >>>

  • I'd like to bump this thread for a love of peanut butter tortillas. Easy to make, store, all the right forms of energy ( I think ). Cheap too.

Possible enhancements include honey, banana, more nuts - you name it!

  • Sugar and water. FACT.

  • Can't really get my head around this, but like the concept. Recipe?

  • Ingredients:
    1 tortilla (wholewheat is best)
Peanut Butter (crunchy whole earth is best, smooth for weight weenies)

    Prep:
    Lay tortilla flat
Fill inside with several spoons-worth of PB
Add honey, sliced bananas, chopped nuts, etc, to taste
Roll tortilla up, tuck the ends in
    Clingfilm if required

Repeat as many as needed (1 per hr abt. right for me on longer rides). Fits nicely in jersey pockets, but also in saddlebag, jacket pockets, bottle cage holders, etc!

  • Almond butter, jam and banana works as a filling too.

Edit: can freeze if they're not in a jersey pocket though...

  • Peanut butter + sriracha tortilla ftw

  • Possible enhancements include honey, banana, more nuts - you name it!

    Sardines! (see above)

  • I R Eejit. Thought you were referring to a spanish omlette!

  • #rep

sardines + houmous + vogel is a fierce combo too

  • vogel

    What's that?

Goggle says "Alfred Vogel", "Jehovah's Witness" and "quack"...

Will give the houmous a whirl though!

  • Looking at this thread and seeing my last post, it's now been 5 months and sardines/PB/chili sauce are still a mainstay of my diet.

  • also acceptable: burgen, cranks

  • 'craft bread'

  • Burgen is good - Usually <=£1 in supermarkets too.

    Crap to toast though...

  • You must be ripped by now?

  • I'm trying to use the winter Base miles to lose weight.

    Ride till you feel weak.

    Resist emergency gels.

Take on last mountain climb up snow covered Road riding an epically heavy fat bike.

Get to top and smash three gels, which I should have just taken earlier.

    Lie in snow and freeze.

    Ride home.

Keep doing this. Should just accept I need flapjacks back in my life.
