Campagnolo proton wheelset?
-

Looking good.
I think Deda logos are quite nice looking and cheap if you need a 26.0mm clamp.
I couldn't find an image of one with drops:

put a good groupset and wheelset on it so I can post it in bike porn

Got dem wheels yet?
-
• #56
^^nowt wrong with DA7700. I will fight you...
No wheels yet, can't decide. They're kinda boxy. What do you think?

Opinions on the saddle?
-
• #58
It looks great I think.
If you want to change it don't go for anything taller that will make you lower seatpost... -
• #59
Motion carried. A roughly stripped saddle is a bit rat for this though, so:

excellent work

Saddle's looking excellent now it's seen some ass. Shiny. Took her out for tnrc last night, still no front derailleur and only 6 speeds astern, but still fuck yeah! Such a gorgeous bike to ride, even with a stripped seat and a super-long position it felt really comfy. Also, it's lighter than a lot of modern road bikes with a stem made from plutonium and a 36 spoke wheelset! Stoked to get some light wheels and hammer it up some hills.

keep an eye (email/contact) on hubjub, they can do you a deal on TB14 rims, they did velocity A23 for £35 per rim posted for me.
Also how did you seal the leather (?) to plastic saddle body? -
• #63
Just spray adhesive for the main majority, a bit of superglue where it's tucked around the body to stop anything flapping up. Would be lovely to build a 28 spoke TB14/light ebay chinese hubs wheelset but I want to keep it under £100 for now. Would khamsins look shit? I can't really get on with the paired spokes aestehtically but 1.85kg and £80 is bloody tempting.

Dont go with cheap OTP wheels. Wait and go for a nicer wheelset, the bike/frame deserves it. Keep an eye on 'buyer' forums such as BikeRadar and Weight Weenie.
I'd defiantly consider novatec as option, there some decent light rims on sale here atm; those plus novatec = sexy times -

Just found a pair of silver aksiums on gumtree for £50... They'll ride perfectly well, and I can forget about wheels until I scrape the pennies together for the 90s ventos/atlanta '96 etc. that she deserves.

+1 for aksium
-
• #68
aksiums get the tester seal of approval, so they must be doing something right

Slowly but surely getting 'er done. Still no decent wheels, cheap aksiums came to nothing.

this is a really good deal, message the seller and i'm sure he'd do £30 posted, this is like the third time he's had to relist.
i have the bars, they're a nice shape, stiff and 40grams lighter than most compacts and the stem i've only heard good things about, would look mega if you stripped the anodizing so all bits are silver, if you don't like the stem message me and i'll take it off you -

hmm, after a 90mm stem really. Maybe stretch to 100.
Very, very rough build. Need to find a left DA7700 brifter, a shorter/less fugly stem and some more compact bars. Toying with keeping this wheelset (open 4cd/chorus) and building a new hub into the back wheel, but 36 spokes is overkill for me at 63kg...
