I've heard of GPS errors, but this one is amusing.

The leaders on the more Easterly routes have had an incredible average speed overnight, there's no way they can do that constantly.
That Canyon 42:26 1200km last year you do the math.

Or Google can:
(1200 km) / (42 hours 26 minutes) =
28.2796544 km per hour -

But that doesn't tell the story of being sat on the bike, feeling it, refuelling, piss stops, discomfort, and then the days that follow.

Geoffroy_Dussault (who seems to ride for Canadian UCI team Garneau–Québecor)
It looks as though he rode at a high level in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2013 he had a more active season but not otherwise. He only competed four times in 2014. He is 30 years old. Although his Strava details list him as a pro, it looks as though he is very much focused on the tCR. He is a time trial specialist.

Hippy's Speedplays are acting up. Is he going straight through Paris? That would be novel. Lots of bars cafes and restaurants.
-
• #2485
He's cleaned his cleats, had an espresso. His back hurts.
-
• #2486
He's out of water and can't find any shops open
-
• #2487
Oh, that was before his espresso. All well with the world now.
(Aparrt from him moaning about his route and his back) -
• #2488
Is he heading for Charles de Gaulle?!

Thanks. This works better for me

I've updated the list.
https://twitter.com/buro9/lists/tcrno4It now has every rider who has actually started, and has a public Twitter account, and who uses it.
I've got every rider from the official transconrace list, plus some they had missed due to people letting me know.
If I've missed anyone, let me know and I'll add it.

#TCRno4 #TCRNo4s061 Oh and refilled water bottles via stealth incursion into campsite. I think I like this game!

Is hippy on his way to Disneyland?
-
• #2492
Hippy is nearly at Disneyland Paris.

• #2493
I can't see a river crossing anywhere near his current location, seems a strange place to have headed to. He must have a plan.
-
• #2494
Looks like he might have meant to go the other side (east) of that meander?

A pretty decent tracker

Thanks for this. Great to see everyone desperately trying to find somewhere open at 8am for some form of breakfast

Perhaps hippy should have gone "crowd sourced" navigation.
6:40am and all is well.
hippy has only had a piss stop or two... he's still rolling: http://trackleaders.com/transconrace16i.php?name=Stuart_Birnie
Really incredible to look at the dots for everyone and see how spread out they are after only 1 night.
The leaders on the more Easterly routes have had an incredible average speed overnight, there's no way they can do that constantly. I'm sure it's a psychological thing though, to go hard at the beginning and weaken riders behind with that knowledge that you're n KMs down the road.
