Also, weird stages such as this one seem to be pretty common in Giro. I guess it's because the conditions are genuinely unpredictable this time of the year. It's part of the event really.

The break must have just completely disintegrated on the climb, how much time did they lose? 4 minutes?
Pretty grim out there, looking forward to what ever re hash is available tomorrow -

Looks like Nibali and Santambrogio struck a deal.
'I'lla letta you winna iffa you helpa me inna the mountains becausa ma teama is shitta'
I'm para-phrasing.

^ Racist.

Why would Nibali need Santambrogio's help in the mountains? He gifted the win in case he needed Vini Fantini's help somewhere else along the way.

A rival Italian team riding in support of an Italian in the Giro against an Aussie and Colombian? That's crazy talk.
-
• #1408
Just goes to show that Nibali is playing it very safe. It's not as if he would be in desperate trouble any time soon.

Or he is from a culture where you prove your class with patronage rather than rapaciousness.

From the Guardian's Grupetto blog which is worth a read but not as good as Inrng.
"The upshot was nearly three hours of the very worst television ever broadcast, with Eurosport's Declan Quigley defying parody and the usually laconic Sean Kelly sounding ready to contact Dignitas."
Today looks pretty brutal even without the Galibier. Let's have some fucking pictures please.

Apparently Rai had footage of the final climb last night. Anybody got a link?
-
• #1412
Just watched it here. They didn't have it live yesterday though.
Edit: Apparently they've earlier used airplanes instead of helicopters in the Galibier if the weather has been shite.

is there anywhere other than LMNH showing it? Not that I have anything against lmnh, just it's a bit far from home, so somewhere in West would be lovely

I don't know about rape but there was definitely some kind of lewd cosmopolitian trading going on in all that fog...

No - not live. Filmed onto hard disc from bikes.

In this vid you can hear the commentators chatting about relaying from the Galibier via a plane.

I am quite enjoying watching the coverage in Italian. even with my limited conversational grasp of the language it's still better than the main guy on Euro sport.

I watch it in Italian too, to learn a bit! I already speak rubbish, so nothing to be gained by watching eurosport
Nibali looked pretty comfortable. And why wouldn't he given that his rivals were nowhere to be seen. I expect him to put more time into Uran Uran and/or Evans tomorrow if the stage isn't neutralized.
