unimpressive riding for Cav
The more riders that reach the finish the slower the team? -
• #103
nine riders should be able to go faster than 5, but OPQS are a team built around winning Cav stages. Despite them being world TTT champions they didn't push that hard hence why they didn't shed as many riders. Other teams burnt off they weaker TTers as they went for the win or to minimise timeloss for their GC contenders

Was on a plane yesterday, watching highlights now.
Im kind or amazed at how much time sky pulled out/were allowed to pull out against main gc contenders like cuddles and ryder.
Bmc looked like a rabble! How can professional teams get team tt so far wrong?

Giro d'Italia - Stage 2
Sunday, 05 May 2013
A short and intense visit to the beautiful island of Ischia for a short and selective team time trial. 17km of short steeper climbs and descents separated by windy bursts on the flat. Nice roads in picturesque scenery which surely would have looked great on tv.
Our quick visit was focused on one thing, and that was not to loose time to the to the other GC contenders, with that focus our visit did live up our hopes. Although a team time trial, with the amount of time climbing on this course, it required a team made up of mostly climbers - not exactly the team we are here with. The guys put in everything for me today, but with three semi-sprinters and two rouleurs (passisti) we could only ride the climbs as fast as our sixth and seventh rider could handle. In the end, a 37 second time loss is not great, but that is the way it is, so we continue on from here.
I think most team personnel and riders will be happy to go back to our more familiar racing style on the mainland. These two stages have been a bit testing for the team staff, so now we have some longer stages that will be more a test of our legs rather than the technical and logistical capabilities of the teams. The next two days are long and not exactly easy, so be prepared for some surprises as we head over the 200km mark. I am actually looking forward to seeing some of the Amalfi coast as well - it really is a scenic Giro.

Also, I don't think any of the World TTT team are present in the Giro, which doesn't help.

I always think of doing this.
Though today demands being out on my bike. Anyone know an outdoor screening of the Giro, 20-30k from here? A big screen in a field in Hertfordshire would be nice -

Yeah highlights is the only way to go really. I cant justify sitting indoors and watching TV somewhere on a bank holiday with the sun shining.

^ he says, sitting on his laptop first thing in the morning.

i'm sure the olympic park legacy committee will sort out the outdoor screen in the north park
so sports fans of all types will be able to watch sports in a nice outdoor arena ..won't they ?

The same way the multi million pound indoor velodrome is open now to track enthusiasts instead of gathering dust for nearly a year? Of course they will.

And the amazingly technical olympic BMX track is being enjoyed by bmx racing lovers isn't it?
and the MTB course with those amazing views near southend a perfect destination for bank holiday off-roaders

Trying to get eurosport sub so I can watch this thing.
After I had filled in my name etc and said I wanted to pay by mastercard, but before I gave them any payment details I got an error message. Now I can log in, but I can't view any content. When I go to my account info it says the transaction is in process but the card details are blank and I can't find any way of getting them to restart the transaction.
Grrr... I don't suppose anyone has a solution?

Ryder Hesjedal has attacked from the bunch and is going deep. Seems fucking bonkers with three weeks left. And he's got a gap of about three seconds now.

• #123
Swallowed up. Pointless.
-
• #124
not so sure, maybe he was just letting the others know that he is a contender, I cant understand why everyone has been ignoring him in the favorites discussions, I reckon he will win it
