the frame is very tight allready, with the bulge a little bit too tight, (frame was little bit bent when i bought it but i had never noticed it) i hope it can be corrected without having to replace the tubes cos they are really hard to get, i tried.
Did you ever try to straighten it out?
I always thought that ESA Columbus tubing was straight SL that got crimped by the buildmaster and that there really weren't any tubes manufactured like that. Or is ESA just Gilco tubing with more crimps?

Columbus manufactured the tubes like that, the builder builds the frames, does not do any crimping. I know this because a friend of mine has a couple of crimped tube sets from Columbus

If need be, does he wants to sell one of them?
-

i never tried to straighten it out, i tried to get replacement tubes, bought another frame with the same tubes (cornello i think the frame was) but the tubes were not long enough, after that i kind of lost interest as i dont ride a trackbike anymore. I can imagine if you had the right tools it can be bent back but not sure how safe that is going to be

what about contacting cornelo/Henk kokke? perhaps they have surplus,
the Cornelo crimped steel wasn't sl columbus though I think

If the lugs aren't cracked or any other structural damage is present then it's pretty safe I guess. And yeah, I'm taking it straight to a local bike builder with 25+ years of experience to check it out. If he says no chance I'll have to ride it with 19c tyres. ;)

Interesting, how did they look different?

where the crimping started it was a little bit more sharp, the columbus went a little bit more smooth into the crimp if i remember correctly

They're crimped but they're not the ESA ones you'd be after, and besides I think he would, if at all, sell them as a complete set to build a frame

^ Understandable.
