Shame I missed this. If heading in the Clerkenwell direction, the Gunmakers (http://thegunmakers.co.uk) is a great pub with reasonable bike locking potential just opposite. No fun police either preventing kerbside beers.

Just starting working in Fitzrovia, and have never been able to get to a forum drinks before. Would be a shame if it was moved out east to Clerkenwell...

The name Fitzrovia is a relatively recent coinage, first recorded in 1940. Until it gained popular currency in the 1950s, the area was often considered to be part of Soho. To suggest that the area should be restyled as Noho, however, goes down about as well as saying Holborn and Bloomsbury should be renamed Midtown.

I suppose, as the instigator of the original central drinks (that weren't the really original, but non-official and unnamed, "turn up at the Jon Snow on a Friday" drinks) I should give a nod of approval to this successor.

if you add north's and south's to make a cross the centre of it is actually almost on top of a pub (the golden lion on royal college street)

but I still vote for the green man and its delicious 7% cider
