If you've not read this already:
"If you've got a little bit of hair on your legs it will turbulate [sic] the air so you get a better flow. Now this in itself creates friction, so you don't want all your leg hairy you just want two thin strips, each about 10mm wide, just before the sides of your legs – though you will look really stupid.
You need the turbulent boundary layer – provided by these strips of hair - to get the air around the corner, and you need a smooth layer for it to flow over. But the leg is such a rubbish shape that ideally you want an aerofoil on the back of it." Mike Burrows
I wonder what he thinks about the moustache.

PolkaD I'm going to totally copy you... I hope you don't mind?

Soon we are going to need a HMSH thread. (Home Made Slave Helmet)

Before I made this helmet I did spend some time looking at existing designs on the internet.
I remember seeing some that leave the rear section open at the bottom.
It was quite obvious to me that leaving the bottom uncovered would greatly reduce the effect, so I made mine enclosed.

• #212
could you use it as a mandolin potentially?
-
• #213
With a minor mod, this would work for "yard of ale", post-TT, PB celebrations.
Just a thought.

• #214
please don't leave your bottom uncovered

at least if you have a mid-TT mechanical and are waiting for the broomwagon you can do a bit of the crossword to keep yourself entertained.

The price of a PB thankfully most of us are unwilling to pay.

+1 for Polka dot's granny carpet
-1 for wool penises. Why did you have to go an lower the tone
-
• #221
Maybe cut the end of it off a bit so it isnt quite as pointy? that point will wave about with the slightest head movement and disrupt the air.
could cut if off and glue a piece of cardboard in A la http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/2013-Specialized-S-Works-x-McLaren-TT-Helmet01.jpg ?

I think there's more going on with the Spec/McLaren than a simple Kamm tail

can't someone just 3D print it
Strong, light, cheap... when it comes to 3D printing, you can only pick one, and 'cheap' actually means 'remortgaging not essential'. Shame, because it is powerful fun. If PolkaDot would like to 3D print it, I will happily create the mesh files for a massive fee.
