• Sounds great laner, in the diary ...

  • Not to be a dictator but can people please refrain from doing this ride fixed and brake less?

  • Si

  • i thoroughly endorse geared and brakless though

  • lol sturmey archer 3 speed.

  • Edit: please refrain from brakelessness altogether!

  • a little gutted to miss this but i'll be on a stag weekend in bristol.
if you'd like to drag locks and clean clothes across england feel free to meet up for a jar or two.

  • Ace. The 100 club rides again (almost). What's happened to Master Braker? Need to check if this clashes with a wedding. Otherwise I'm in.

  • Just dug the roadbike out of hibernation for the cycle/train to work this eve, aw man, I can't wait for this ride...

  • Nice1 laner....

Just to mention though that credit for this route lies with Ste5 and jonny, iirc. Also, although i'm sure the following would be pointed out, and I hope to come along anyway, happily backstopping if required, but a few notes on the route that may be helpful.....

7.7 miles. One-way road. Fine at night, but best to carry on to the junction and do a quick left and right turn during the day

11.1 miles. Laundry Lane can be a little sketchy especially as it's early in the route - very narrow with potential for debris.

27.8 miles. Dead straight descent on an empty wide road. BRAP!

33.6 miles. Better to convene 100m further down the road at the T-junction as the section before that is rolling and always strings out the group.

82.9 miles. The turn is on a slight descent and easy to overshoot or brake too suddenly for the group.

85.9 miles. Winsley Hill is very steep with a couple of broad sweeping turns. Give yourself space and be assertive with position watching your speed if req. Nothing to fear really though... unless your brakless.

    • I can't remember how to get on the railway path once in Bath centre - i'm sure someone will have local knowledge though :)

bike/ old railway path is pretty clear once youre on Brassmill Lane so following the mapped route will get you there no problem it seems

  • Damn, this clashes with the stag weekend. So instead of cruising the sun soaked country lanes I'm gonna be in the hell of Butlins in Minehead. Give me strength!

  • The only thing that's putting me off is laner's expression 'roadie bros' ...

    shudder

    I almost said "Broadies"

  • Bogans more like :)

  • All I hear are good things about this route. I have a wedding that day though. Ah well. I'm just glad I have had my 100 club cherry broken already so missing this doesn't hurt as much.

  • As this will be a week after I will have done 500 miles fixed through Spain I reckon I'll quite fancy the idea of gears; But reliant on obtaining a geared bike by then.
