Hope the family was more sane than us!
Sane? Not really.
Youngest Luddlet went swimmnig in the sea again and again and again. He ordered a whole dressed crab for lunch, with potato salad. Then declared he didn't like crab or potato salad.
Older Luddlet spent much of our walk tickling other members of his family in the ear with long grass stems and (I think) discussing modern composing techniques.
Mrs Ludd spotted a female mallard and declared it must be a bittern and stood making booming noises at it. She also demonstrated that (a) her legs are longer than mine and (b) even if they weren't, they were less tired - at times I could hardly resist crying out, in that plaintive voice so often heard on the fells of the Lake District, "Wait for meeeeeee...". And to cap it all, she drove us all home again in the evening. What a star.

I did not enjoy the last 20 miles. Partly the endless wind and drizzle, partly the fact that I thought the route was 123 miles long, partly the ligaments around my knees screaming but mostly the fact that I'd been holding a shit in since about the half-way mark and was in danger of spraying everyone behind me with excrement every time I got out of the saddle.
Never been so pleased to see the giant pile of toilet rolls in the beach toilets! That aside, I enjoyed myself in a mixed group of fixed/gears that attempted to stay together and cruise at a leisurely pace but ended up sprinting 10-15 miles then stopping. Either at the top of a hill for the gears or at the bottom for the fixed... Not the most ideal of strategies!
Didn't have my cap on but spoke to a few forumengers at the end waiting for bus E and enjoying the comedy lettering routine - Howard, a girl with dark hair and a tall skinny chap.
Worst bit: The last 10 miles where I was cold and wet, trying not to shit myself and expecting another 10 miles afterwards.
Best bits: The people standing along the route and variously chatting to/cheering us and feeling as though they'd closed the (wonderfully smooth) roads for us as we swept along in the dark.

Not me I'm afraid Ludd. I'm not in that pic, but rest assured, I'm significantly handsomer. Actually we've met, as I had a cassette from you last summer. Maybe I should have fitted it by now...
I suppose I ought to have:
(a) remembered the cassette - was that the one I brought to Admiralty Arch?
(b) worked out that you would not have taken a picture of your bike with yourself standing behind it taking a picture of something else. Another coffee please...

It started to rain, misty droplets rather than hammering downpour, but it was enough to make my glasses useless...
Ah yes, this...
Apologies to anyone I may have blanked as I was riding away from the beach - I couldn't distinguish faces unless I stared at everyone like a deranged killer. In future could you please all don JAH Tim style dreadlock wigs to avoid confusion. Thanks...

Oh and my front tyre exploded, shortly after going down that very long/fast descent into a village but I was expecting it to at some point...

had to raise the stem by about 2" to relieve a bit of the pressure
I did this with about 50 miles to go, as well as scobilising my saddle. Glad that I'm not alone...

I met you outside your workplace, an office on a street in London near an All Bar One. I'm eminently forgettable though, so don't feel bad for me. I should have got the boat party lads to take a pic with me in it really.

I saw a load of people in forum caps - I shouted stuff about skids at some of you—none of you c*nts obliged (booo). Special mention to the ladies jersey wearer who gave me the deathstare for asking for a skid at about 160k. Fun times.
Who was the jersey wearing guy who borrowed Jay Gee's spoke key? Hope your wheel held up.
