A list?
Good things Thatcher has done- Role model for women
hardly unequivocal there, skydancer. yes, she was first female PM, this was/is a big deal. however she vocally opposed feminism, declared that womens lib "had done nothing" for her and ensured few other women got a shot at cabinet (1?). she changed attitudes by being female. but, much the same as Jeez's earlier comment that "she didn't get that not every grocer's daughter could become PM", she didn't get that there was still an equality battle for women. in her opinion womens lib was over - she did nothing to support it. she had got there, ergo there was no problem. also don't forget that the unions did a lot to support women in the workplace and change attitudes there.
extrapolating wildly from anecdote here, but I'm guessing that many of those that voted for her in part or whole because she was female, felt betrayed.

VanUden rather relied in his trolling on people who know him understanding his sense of humour. While the forum has changed, and he shouldn't have been quite so oblique, you can consider his offer of a pint as genuine, as he is a good egg.
Thanks Oliver, I guess the forum has changed more than I realise. Both you and MarkyBoy are officially owed pints but I only make it out around Camberwell or Brixton these days - not Finchley ;)
Let me know when :)

a troll is a troll is a troll. Only being capable of articulating yourself in pointedly provocative and rhetorical phrases is not really conducive to people liking you or thinking that you are indeed 'a good egg'.

You might want to check my post count and post content.
Typically, for a Tory, you don't let the data/facts get in the way of your ideology.

So kind of like the bankers, except they didn't get off scott free?
While i'm not defending bankers, from a political standpoint banking is good for the UK economy and mining was not. I'm not saying it's right, it's just why it is

The fact is Chalfie, that your entire contribution to this forum is to troll and spout your angry little invective. You have quit and then returned under a different pseudonym at least twice because you just can't let a day go by without spitting out some more bile-filled hatred.
You might very well learn, if you studied the effect that sinking the Belgrano had, that your father returned alive from the Falklands precisely because it was sunk.
What the actual fuck?

"Jed Miller, 21, clutching a bottle of cider, said: "She was a bit before my time, but family never had anything good to say about her."
Any excuse for a knees up in Brixton

Those dudes were just climbing up as I was walking home. One of them fell off and broke his leg or something.
