  • +1 for fitzrovia and sargent. Blb have tons of gorgeous stuff but you won't find any bargains.

  • Only if you work up a relationship with them (BLB).

Picking an LBS is like making love to a beautiful woman...

  • Er, my BB cap was stuck like **** tool didn't fit anymore due to previous deformation of a wrench. No don't know who did that, yes it pisses me off too. Else is the bike mechanic called The Boyfriend (don't hate me, I don't have all the tools yet myself)

I would say it's good customer service to explain pricing BEFORE you do anything. CRC has a standard BB removal charge which they applied to just the cup. They did tell me AFTER, always best to tell customers BEFORE.

  • Dafuq?^ makes not a lot of sense...

"You've got to walk in confidently; you've got to check out the merchandise on display; you've got to tell them you're a very experienced rider and you'll be paying them a lot of attention, but then get in and out as quickly as possible." etc. #notgoingtomentionfifteenquid

    Fixed for accurately.

  • Always take a number, never leave one etc.

  • If they want to charge you £15 for attending to your bottom bracket, they're probably including extras you didn't ask for.

    Quoted for posterior.

  • I'd say to Jeez, find a better LBS.

Brixton Cycles now there's a local bike shop.

  • Don't invite him to BC, he'll only complain when the peanut butter energy bars aren't complimentary.

  • @object, I'm assuming he's too far away, and I was just mentioning how lucky I am to have BC just down the road, I'm not sure how my bikes would survive if I couldn't potter down there on the regular and bend their ears about foolishness..

  • Dafuq?^ makes not a lot of sense...

What doesn't make sense in my OP?

  • Honestly, the first paragraph is baffling.

  • It was a few pages back and I can't be arsed finding the quotes but you are a cock for those reasons and many more.

  • Anyone has any experience with Cycleworx in Southfields?

  • Anyone has any experience with Cycleworx in Southfields?

    Very expensive imo.

If you're prepared to travel a little further from southfields then I'd recommend holdsworths or velosport in putney, cheaper and friendlier service in both in my experience.

Holdsworth is more like an old school LBS, and they've got me out of the cack a few times, and charged very little.

  • But how much does it cost to removed the bottom bracket? That's a very important life and death questions.

  • Ah yes, well removal of one bottom bracket will cost you your soul. It says so on the door see.

  • All the feedback they need is whether people are using their services.

Put it this way, if you ran a business and you needed to charge £15 for a unit of work to make even a small profit from it, what woudl you be charging?

If your customers didn't take up your services because they felt it was too expensive do you think you should be doing the work for less than it actually costs and making a loss?

  • Has this not been resolved yet?

cheers will look into that, I was thinking about doing rapha hotn on the Roadie that needs a basic service (I can do everything apart from gears) but decided to do it on the rat with 32c tyres (as the roadie would take 28c max plus I'll have to buy new tyres)

I called up London Bike Workshop in clapham they said they don;t book appointments so if I can be there first thing in the morning they would be able to do this, since I am not in hurry I'll look into holdsworth and velosport. I have been to velosport couple of times, lots of pr0n bikes on display.

What is the experience with Putney cycles?

  • I have a £1000 to spend.. where's the best place to get a BB removed?
